Yu Zhi

Yu Zhi (1809-1874), a native of Yiting, was born in Liancun, Huizhai and jiyunshan. He was born in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. He was a famous philanthropist and dramatist in modern times. There are a lot of good operas. Most of the contents are persuading people to do good and advocating loyalty, filial piety and righteousness. He died in Suzhou in the 13th year of Tongzhi.

Yu Zhi once organized a children's Opera Troupe. His main works include Hou Quan Nong, huofo Ge, the case of compatriots, Yimin Ji, Hai lie Fu Ji, Yue Hou Xun Zi, hero's score, etc. In addition, he is also the author of caojiexuezhaiji and Deyilu. His life story can be seen in Wu Shicheng's chronicle of Mr. Yu Xiaohui, Yu Chu's epitaph and Peng Weigao's epitaph.

Personal resume

Yu Zhi was poor when he was a child. At the age of nine, he studied in a private school. At the age of fifteen, he taught Mengli middle school to support his relatives in the valley. Daoguang 15 years (1835) bujinguixue attached. In 1839, he studied in Jiyang Academy of Jiangyin county. Twenty two years (1842) should be Jiangyin young Yin Yao employment, Department of teaching and reading. Taking the old reading books of the village school, such as the children's prodigy poem and the thousand family poem, as examples, they wrote five or seven character poems to teach children's education, which was called "Fa Meng Bi Du". They didn't sign their surnames, printed and distributed them. All the schools were fighting for each other. Later, he wrote "the continuation of children prodigy poetry" and "the continuation of a thousand poems". In 1845, a number of private schools were set up for the children of poor families to study. In 1848, many women were drowned in this area, and the society of compassionate childbirth and infant protection was established. He failed in the local examination for five years, but in the second year of Xianfeng (1852), "he was determined to make progress and save customs and people's hearts.". Personal works

Yu Zhi was the first literati playwright to write a large number of PI Huang plays. He wrote dozens of PI Huang plays in his life, organized a group of poor children who were lonely and had no news, and set up a children's Opera Troupe. He invited old artists in Liyuan to teach plays, and personally guided rehearsals and performed in various places. Although "the use of capital is often difficult, and the slander and ridicule are often made", it is still "a lot of poor management". Zheng Zhenduo commented: "he didn't use traditional Kunqu opera to compose his script. His play was written in the style of "Pi Huang Diao", which was popular at that time. This is the end of the history of Chinese drama that he can stand on his own. There are more than 30 kinds of PI Huang scripts, including houquan Nong, living Buddha, compatriots case, Yimin Ji, hailianfu Ji, yuehou Xunzi, yingyingpu, Zhusha nevus, etc. they are the first and second episodes of shujitang Jinle, and are published in Guangxu. There are also several books, such as kujie Ji, zhuangyuanfu, qiaohuanbao, Renshou Ji, Wulei Bao and Xiaoyou Tu, which have been lost. Other works include six volumes of Zun Xiaoxue Zhai's collection of poems and essays and sixteen volumes of De Yi Lu, all published in the world.
