Pang Yuanji (1864-1949) was named laichen and xuzhai. He is from Nanxun, Wuxing, Zhejiang Province. His father Pang yunfen was a rich man in Nanxun Town, one of the "four images of Nanxun". Pang Yuanji was a disciple of doctor in 1880, and he was a doctor in Jiangxi Province. As a result of the relief of 100000 yuan, it was specially given to Ju Ren, plus sipingjing hall. In his early years, he often copied the famous people's calligraphy and paintings of Qianlong and Jiaqing, and later engaged in calligraphy and painting business. Since 1895, we have established Shijing, Dalun reeling factory and Tongyigong yarn factory in gongchenqiao, Hangzhou, Tangqi, Deqing (now Yuhang Tangqi). In the autumn of 30 years, he established Longzhang machine Paper Co., Ltd. as the general manager in Shanghai. In addition, we have set up rice shops, soy sauce gardens, wine shops, Chinese medicine shops, pawnshops, banks and other large and small enterprises in Nanxun, Shaoxing, Suzhou, Hangzhou and other places, and have a large number of farmland and real estate in these places.

Collection

Pang Yuanji not only has the financial resources, but also excels in appreciation. He has a collection of bronze, porcelain, calligraphy and painting, jade and other cultural relics, especially calligraphy and painting. He is one of the famous collectors of calligraphy and painting in China. He has contacts with Yu Youren, Zhang Daqian and Wu Changshuo.

In Yuan Dynasty, Ni Zan's Yuzhuang Qiulu scroll, Qian Xuan's fuyushan Ju scroll, Ren Renfa's Qiushui Fulu scroll, Wang Mian's mohai scroll, Ke Jiusi's Shuangzhu scroll, Ming Daijin's Fangyan Wengui landscape scroll, Tang Yinchun's mountain companion scroll, Wen Zhengming's Shihu Qingsheng scroll, Qiu Ying's liuxiamianqin scroll, and Qing Wu calendar's Hu Tianchun scroll are all current It's a treasure with a thread. Its collection is the richest in China. There are 20 volumes of Xu Zhai's famous paintings and 4 volumes of Xu Lu. He is rich in calligraphy and painting. Landscape painting is close to Ni Yunlin, but far away from Dong Yuan and Ju ran in Song Dynasty; flowers are based on Yun Nantian.

After the outbreak of the Anti Japanese War, he lived in Shanghai because of his old age. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, the descendants of the Pang family donated or sold the calligraphy and painting relics to Shanghai Museum, Nanjing Museum and Suzhou Museum. The first-class collection of Shanghai Museum, the picture of milk duck in lotus pond of zhukerou Kesi in Northern Song Dynasty, was donated by his son Pang Bingli in December 1952.

He has 16 volumes of Xu Zhai's famous paintings, 4 volumes of Xu Zhai's famous paintings and the history of Chinese famous paintings.

Paintings

The characteristics of Pang's collection of paintings are as follows: first, there are many famous works in the past dynasties, and the collection is rich. Basically, Zhongwu, a famous calligrapher and painter in each period before Zhongwu, has its own collection of works, especially the works of Wumen's four most wonderful Zhongbo; second, the collection of Pang's Huabo is mostly exquisite, and Zhongwu is authentic.

Some people say that Wang Jiqian's collection of Chinese painters is "incomparably rich", but Wang himself said that "there is a collector in Shanghai, Pang laichen, who is the world's largest collector of Chinese painting and calligraphy, and owns thousands of famous paintings and calligraphy works". He has also collected many of his collections.

Zheng Xiaoxu, a famous figure in the Republic of China, was a little conservative, saying that he "collected his armour in the Southeast".

Critic Wang Jinyu commented that China's Mr. Zhang Boju, Pang Yuanji, Qian Jingtang, etc. are very worthy of learning. They are really worthy of the name of collectors.
