Guo Jingjing

Guo Jingjing was born in an ordinary family in Baoding City, Hebei Province. She lived with her grandmother since childhood. When she was 6 years old, playing with an iron plate in kindergarten, she accidentally injured the corners of her mouth and bled all over her face, but insisted not to take her to the hospital. Guo Jingjing's father, Guo Shuzhong, worked in the railway, and his mother, fan Yumei, was a worker in Lekai film factory. At the beginning, Guo Jingjing was allowed to learn diving just to keep her picky daughter in good health. However, Guo Jingjing's kneecap has some protrusions, which will affect the air shape. Therefore, Guo's father had to sit on his daughter's knee and press his leg forcibly. At this time, Guo Jingjing's painful sweat will fall off. Pressing his daughter's leg every time is also a torment for Guo Shuzhong and fan Yumei. In particular, Guo's mother once wanted her daughter to give up diving, But the young Guo Jingjing insisted.

When Guo Jingjing was on the Hebei training team, her mother fan Yumei had to rush to the training base after work to watch her daughter eat, study and sleep. She didn't leave until all this was over. After Guo Jingjing entered the national team at the age of 11, Guo's mother had to put her bicycle on the luggage cart and check it to Beijing together. Fan Yumei didn't end her days of entering Beijing with her bicycle until her daughter had a firm foothold in the national team and had some competition bonuses.

In 1988, Guo Jingjing started diving training at Baoding training base in Hebei Province. At the age of 10, Guo Jingjing accidentally broke her leg bone during a training, so according to the coach's intention, she put up a wooden board on the second floor of the diving hall and lay there for healing and recuperation for more than a month.

In 1992, Guo Jingjing entered the diving team of Hebei Province.

In 1993, Guo Jingjing was selected into the Chinese national diving team, and the coach was Yu Fen.

On September 7, 1995, Guo Jingjing cooperated with Wang Rui to win the gold medal in the women's double platform diving competition of the Ninth World Cup diving competition held in Atlanta, USA; On September 9, Guo Jingjing won the gold medal in the women's double 3m springboard diving competition in cooperation with Deng Lin. In this cup, Guo Jingjing also won the championship of women's team and mixed team.

On July 27, 1996, the 26th Olympic Games was held in Atlanta, USA. Guo Jingjing won the fifth place in the women's 10m platform diving competition. Later, when training for the national team, there was a sudden power failure. Guo Jingjing accidentally fell off the board, resulting in fracture of both tibia and fibula, and rested for 10 months.

In October 1997, Guo Jingjing took part in the diving competition of the Eighth National Games held in Shanghai and won the second place in women's 3m board with 553.86 points.

In January 1998, Guo Jingjing took part in the World Swimming Championships held in Australia and won the second place in women's platform jumping. In May, Guo Jingjing participated in the U.S. Grand Prix of the international swimming Grand Prix in Florida, USA, and won the gold medal in the women's one meter springboard with 273.72 points. In June, Guo Jingjing participated in the national diving gold medal competition held in Chengdu and won the gold medal of women's 3m springboard. In July, Guo Jingjing won the second place in the women's one meter springboard with 270.93 points in the diving competition of the friendship Games held in New York, USA. Guo Jingjing scored zero in the 3M cricket final of the American friendship games. In September, Guo Jingjing participated in the national diving championship held in Tianjin and won the gold medal in the women's 3m springboard with 531.39 points. In December of the same year, Guo Jingjing won the gold medal in the women's 3m springboard with 547.47 points in the diving competition of the 13th Asian Games held in Bangkok.

In January 1999, Guo Jingjing participated in the 11th World Cup diving competition held in Wellington, New Zealand. In cooperation with Yang Lan, she won the gold medal of women's double three meter springboard, and won the third place of women's single three meter springboard with 272.97 points. Later, she won the first place of mixed group with her teammates. In April, Guo Jingjing won the gold medal in the women's one meter springboard with 268.02 points and the second place in the women's three meter springboard with 559.77 points in the national diving championship held in Jinan. In May, Guo Jingjing won the gold medal of women's double 3m springboard in cooperation with Liang Xiaoqiao in the international swimming general diving Grand Prix held in Florida, USA. On the 14th, Guo Jingjing cooperated with Xiong min to win the women's double platform competition in the US leg of the "Alamo International Diving Series Grand Prix" held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In June, Guo Jingjing took part in the international diving competition held in ruinipo, Sweden, and won the gold medal of women's 3m board. In September, Guo Jingjing participated in the finals of the second international swimming and diving Grand Prix held in Mexico and won the gold medal in women's 3m springboard diving. In October, Guo Jingjing participated in the national diving championship and Olympic qualifying competition held in Chengdu. She won the first place in the women's one meter board competition and won the first place in the women's three meter board double jump in cooperation with Liang Xiaoqiao.

In January 2000, Guo Jingjing participated in the world cup diving competition held in Sydney, Australia, and won the first place in women's 3m board, the champion of women's team and mixed team, and won the second place in women's double 3M board in cooperation with Liang Xiaoqiao. In April, Guo Jingjing won the first place in women's double 3M board and the first place in women's one meter board and women's 3m board in cooperation with Fu Mingxia in the national diving championship and Olympic trials held in Jinan, Shandong Province. In May, Guo Jingjing took part in the Canadian cup international diving competition held in Montreal and won the first place in the women's 3m board. At the beginning of the Sydney Olympic Games in September, Guo Jingjing and Fu Mingxia won the silver medal in the women's double 3M board and the silver medal in the women's single 3M board. Her second Olympic trip passed the gold medal.

In 2001, Guo Jingjing participated in the 9th World Swimming Championships held in Fukuoka City. She won the women's single 3M board, women's double 3M board and women's 1m board. In the same year, Guo Jingjing won the women's 1m springboard champion and the women's 3m springboard champion in the 9th National Games.

In 2002, Guo Jingjing won the women's 1m springboard champion and the women's 3m springboard champion in the national diving championship. In the 13th World Cup diving competition, Guo Jingjing won the champion of women's single 1m springboard, the champion of women's single 3m springboard and the runner up of women's double 3m springboard. In the same year, at the Busan Asian Games, Guo Jingjing won the women's single 3m springboard champion and women's double 3m springboard champion.

In 2003, Guo Jingjing won the women's 3m springboard single and double champion in the Australian Grand Prix of the International Swimming Federation diving Grand Prix. In 2007, Guo Jingjing participated in the 12th World Swimming Championships held in Melbourne and won the women's single 3M board champion and women's double 3M board champion.

In February 2008, Guo Jingjing participated in the Diving World Cup held in Beijing and won the champion of women's single 3M board and women's double 3M board. In August, Guo Jingjing participated in the 29th Beijing Olympic Games and won the women's single 3m springboard champion, and won the women's double 3m springboard champion with Wu Minxia. So far, Guo Jingjing has won her fourth gold medal in the history of the Olympic Games. Together with Deng Yaping, Fu Mingxia and Wang Nan, Guo Jingjing has become the second most gold medal winner in China (the first is gymnast Zou Kai, a total of five). In 2009, after the end of the East Asian Games, Guo Jingjing entered Renmin University of China and began to rest indefinitely. At that time, Guo Jingjing didn't know whether to continue her diving career. At the end of September 2010, before the Guangzhou Asian Games, Guo Jingjing's name was still prominently listed in the new diving team training list released by the China Swimming Association, but she did not return to the team on time and finally missed the Guangzhou Asian Games.

On January 22, 2011, Guo Jingjing officially announced her retirement.

On July 15, 2021, Guo Jingjing revealed that she would go to Japan with the Hong Kong delegation to serve as a judge of the diving competition of the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Educational experience

In October 2002, Guo Jingjing and ten other Chinese divers became students of Renmin University of China and studied as undergraduates in the Business School of Renmin University of China.

Guo Jingjing used to read English books in her spare time. When she applied for retirement in 2011, she studied English in the UK. Now she often sends emails and text messages to her and her former teammates in English. Huo Zhenting once mentioned that Guo Jingjing's English is good and Cantonese needs to be studied slowly.

Love experience

Guo Jingjing was linked with the name of his native diver Tian Liang in the early stage, collectively known as "Liangjingjing". The Hong Kong media often described their close relationship, but both denied having a relationship with each other. In 2004, the Hong Kong media began to describe the relationship between Guo Jingjing and Huo Qigang, the eldest grandson of Hong Kong tycoon Huo Yingdong. After that, the relationship became more and more stable. On August 27, 2011, Huo Qigang formally proposed to Guo Jingjing.

Get married and have children

On November 8, 2012, Guo Jingjing and Huo Qigang officially registered for marriage at the mansion on Sassoon Road, Hong Kong Island.
