Qin Rongguang
Qin Rongguang (1841-1904) was originally named Zai Zhan, with the word bingru and the name Yueting. He was a native of Chenxing and a descendant of Yubo. At the age of 17, he was a student member of Buxian County, and at the age of 54, he was a teacher. His eldest son, Xi Tian Guan's cabinet secretary, and his second son, Xi GUI, served as a scholar in the Imperial Academy. He has been engaged in education for more than 40 years. He often teaches the students to practice and criticizes empty words.
Brief introduction to Qin Rongguang
After the reform movement of 1898, Chen asked the county office to set up private schools in Chenxing and Sanlin, and transferred the funds from the temple of Duke of Qin (Yubo) to set up private schools, and created six private schools. In 1896 (the 22nd year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty), Qin Rongguang and local gentry such as Tang Xuezhao, Yang Si and Zhou Xilian raised money to establish Sanlin Academy. The curriculum of the Academy imitates Shanghai dedicated Academy. In 1902, the Academy was changed into a school. In order to catch up with the trend of the times, the Qing government had not yet promulgated the school regulations. Chinese is divided into classics, history, geography, arithmetic four subjects, foreign language is divided into English, French two subjects. In the following year, subjects were changed according to the regulations, instruments were purchased, physics and chemistry were taught, playgrounds were added, military exercises were practiced, and a sports department was set up. Finally, Sanlin school became an important university with a large scale, complete disciplines and leading the trend of the times in Pudong. The three townships of Sanlin, Chenxing and Yangsi have been sponsored by the following scholars, and the number of Sanxiang schools has grown to more than 20 at one time. It is convenient for children in Pudong to study, and many of them are successful. He was the head of Xiantao college in Nanhui. He donated his salary as a reward for his students. LV Haihuan, Minister of Commerce and treaty, invited the Qing government to praise him for his meritorious service. In 1881 and 1882 (the seventh and eighth years of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty), the county suffered from continuous cotton failures and people's livelihood was in dire straits. Rongguang asked the County Department to lend interest bearing loans to the poor in zhongjigu county to save burning eyebrows. It was not approved and then submitted to the provincial department for approval. Together with Kang Fengji of Nanhui, they set up "festival Protection Association" to support widows of poor families. It is also proposed to set up a "red Protection Bureau" and a "vaccinia sub bureau" in Pudong to facilitate children and children to seek medical treatment nearby. For salt patrol ships entering Pudong area to extort, plunder and even kill people, "Likasi" patrol camp to leave merchants in trouble, glory repeatedly asked to be abolished. The salt lords harassed the people, and Rongguang united with Chen Xing, Sanlin, and Yangsi to form a business group and a civilian group for self-defense.
Works of Qin Rongguang
He is brilliant, erudite and capable of writing, and devoted himself to writing history. Reading must be criticized by oneself, especially in Zixiang. His supplement (Jin Shu) art and literature annals is included in the supplement to the twenty five histories of Kaiming bookstore. In addition, there are "bu (Jin Shu) school annals", "bu (Jin Shu) water conservancy annals" (lost), six volumes of tongzhi (Shanghai county annals) notes, and one volume of Guangxu (Nanhui county annals) notes, which are added to correct the local historians. The four volumes of Zhuzhi Ci of Shanghai county, miscellaneous records of Zixiang and Wenjian records of Zixiang all record local anecdotes, which are highly valued by historians. On August 21, 1904 (the 30th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu), he died of illness. The man who died had his posthumous title of "Wen Yi". He made a bronze statue and stood in the West Garden of Chenxing town. In 1933 (22 years of the Republic of China), Sanlin primary school built Wenyi library as a memorial.
