Zhang Yushu
Zhang Yushu (April 1934 - January 5, 2019), male, born in Shanghai, is a professor, doctoral supervisor and senior translator of German Department of School of foreign languages of Peking University. He has translated Zweig's works such as letter from an unknown woman.
On January 5, 2019, he died peacefully in the Third Hospital of Peking University at the age of 85.
Life of the characters
He was born in Shanghai in April 1934.
In 1953, he was admitted to the Department of western languages of Peking University and majored in German. After graduating in 1957, he stayed in the university to teach.
He has been teaching assistant, lecturer and associate professor of German major in Department of western languages of Peking University. He was a professor in 1984 and was specially appointed as one of the first batch of doctoral tutors in 1985.
He once served as chairman of the academic committee of the Department of western languages, Peking University, director of the German teaching and research section of the Department of western languages, and director of the world literature research center of the Department of western languages, Peking University.
He joined the Chinese Writers Association in 1984.
In 1999, the annual journal of Chinese and German language, literature and culture, literaturstra ß e, was founded. Since 2002, it has become the first academic journal published in German by Chinese scholars.
In 2006, he founded German literature and literary criticism.
On January 5, 2019, he died peacefully in the Third Hospital of Peking University at the age of 85.
