Main achievements
Achievements in scientific research
Li Shaozhen took the lead in carrying out secondary implantation, using laser thread breaking and comprehensive control method to prevent and treat corneal astigmatism, improving small incision phacoemulsification, being entrusted by the Ministry of health to preside over the operation promotion, establishing five prevention and treatment points in the province with international cooperation, taking the lead in studying the quality of life of patients before and after operation, establishing an eye biochemical laboratory to carry out and guide the experimental research on the causes of cataract and eye immunity, and found that human cataract is a common disease The changes of crystallin subunits and the expression of apoptosis genes are related to cataract formation, human uveitis and retinal antigen autoimmunity.
Scientific research to the top
Academician Li Shaozhen, as a scholar, always perseveres in scientific research and actively explores. As she said, we should continue to learn, update our knowledge and keep up with the times. She did the same. Since 1959, she has participated in the establishment of the first ophthalmic biochemical laboratory in Zhongshan Medical College, and began to analyze the chemical composition of Chinese crystals. in order to improve the quality of cataract surgery, Academician Li Shaozhen actively participated in the technology introduction and innovation of cataract surgery. In the late 1970s, she personally led professional group members and graduate students to actively carry out cataract intraocular lens implantation, and made a series of innovative research on implantation of posterior chamber intraocular lens, and achieved remarkable results: they pioneered Nd:YAG laser disconnection to treat corneal astigmatism after modern extracapsular cataract extraction. To prevent and treat the corneal astigmatism of extracapsular cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation with comprehensive methods such as corneal incision and postoperative selective disconnection, so as to better restore the vision of patients; to broaden the indications of intraocular lens implantation, to carry out intraocular lens implantation in complex cases such as high myopia, anti glaucoma, uveitis and diabetes complicated with cataract, and to improve the operation constantly Incision and operation, as well as small incision phacoemulsification cataract extraction and foldable intraocular lens implantation, accelerate wound healing and significantly improve naked eye vision; she is the first to report the results of outpatient intraocular lens implantation in China, to solve the problems of hospitalization difficulty and financial burden for patients; she also takes the lead in carrying out secondary intraocular lens implantation, to create new opportunities for the recovery of binocular single vision and stereopsis The conditions were met. In her research work, she has paid close attention to the latest research trends in her field, and has identified five links in the research direction, experimental design, experimental operation, experimental results processing and thesis writing. She has made efforts to start from reality and closely integrated the advanced nature and scientific nature of the subject with the clinical practice. Therefore, she is leading in the field of scientific research: first, in the etiology of cataract. She and her colleagues cooperated with the National Institute of ophthalmology to systematically study the major crystallins and their subunits of human from embryo to old age for the first time, and found that the aggregate of α - crystallins in adults of different ages was larger than that in embryos; by analyzing the content of γ - crystallins in transparent and cataractous lenses, we found for the first time that human is transparent The amount of each subunit of γ - crystallin in lens varies with age, but the total amount is constant, but it decreases in cataract lens. It is found that the content of embryonic γ - crystallin has glycosyl component in the same period in the world, and it is first reported that the nonenzymatic glycosyl of embryonic γ 2 and γ 3 crystallin is different. It is suggested that the decrease of total amount and the change of subunit of γ - crystallin are related to the formation of cataract. Second, it is further elucidated To understand the pathogenesis of cataract, we found that lens epithelial cell apoptosis gene overexpression is the common molecular basis of all kinds of senile cataract; third, in the prevention and treatment of cataract, we found that Rhododendron A and baicalin have inhibitory effect on lens aldose reductase, which has made a beneficial exploration on the treatment of sugar cataract; in the prevention and treatment of posterior cataract, we found that traditional Chinese medicine is highly effective Harringtonine and harmine can not only inhibit the proliferation of lens epithelial cells cultured in vitro, but also inhibit the proliferation of lens epithelial cells after extracapsular lens extraction in rabbits. It is found that stimulating or inducing apoptosis of lens epithelial cells is of great significance for the prevention and treatment of posterior cataract Methods: we took the lead in the study of the molecular mechanism of cell cycle regulation, and used antisense nucleic acid technology to block the cell cycle process of lens epithelial cells, so as to explore the possibility of preventing late-onset cataract. in addition, Academician Li Shaozhen personally participated in and guided the experimental research on ocular immunity, and made remarkable achievements in the research on the pathogenesis of uveitis. In recent years, his research work has been supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Doctoral Program Fund of the State Education Commission, the science and Technology Commission of Guangdong Province, the Ministry of health, the Nei and HKI of the United States, and has achieved outstanding results. She presided over the "cataract prevention and treatment research" won the third prize of the national science and Technology Progress Award in 1996 and the second prize of the Ministry of Health Science and Technology Progress Award in 1995 (the first author); the "series of experimental studies on the pathogenesis of uveoretinitis" won the third prize of the national science and Technology Progress Award in 1998 (the second author), the second prize of the Ministry of Health Science and Technology Progress Award in 1997 (the second author); the "series of experimental studies on the pathogenesis of uveoretinitis" won the third prize of the national science and technology progress award of 1998 (the The second prize of science and technology progress of State Education Commission in 1995 (the second author). Ophthalmic surgery, edited by her, won the second prize of science and technology progress award of the Ministry of health in 1999. She has published 150 papers.
Prevention and treatment of blindness
since the 1950s, Academician Li Shaozhen has been going to the countryside with Professor Mao to carry out the work of prevention and treatment of blindness. For decades, her footprints have covered the industrial, mining and rural areas of southern Guangdong. Academician Li Shaozhen deeply realized from his long-term practical work that no matter how high his level and working ability are, even if he works day and night, he can not meet the needs of many blind people. Since he was young, Academician Li has had an immortal dream in his heart: to establish a key teaching base for training Chinese senior ophthalmologists and researchers, and to train a large number of ophthalmologists who devote themselves to the cause of ophthalmology in China and are distributed all over the country. For this ideal, she and her predecessors together, invested a lot of energy and devoted a lifetime of enthusiasm. actively promote new technologies in China. Academician Li Shaozhen's research achievements have important clinical guidance and theoretical significance. She presided over and held various kinds of classes on cataract intraocular lens implantation and phacoemulsification, trained nearly 1000 ophthalmologists from 23 provinces, cities, autonomous regions and Macao, and promoted the promotion and improvement of intraocular lens implantation in China. As the project leader of cataract prevention and treatment, he cooperated with the National Institute of Ophthalmology and the international blindness prevention agency (HKI) to demonstrate and promote intraocular lens surgery in rural areas, established five cataract surgery prevention and treatment bases in Guangdong Province, and conducted research on the efficacy and quality of life of cataract patients in rural areas, so as to find out the reasons and Countermeasures Affecting the quality and quantity of cataract surgery in rural areas of China. She is the only consultant of Helen Keller International Organization for the prevention of blindness in China. Due to her outstanding achievements in cataract work, she was commissioned by the Ministry of health in 1996
