Chen Jian

Chen Jian

Chen Jian, whose name is Zi Ming (1594-1676), was born in Leling village of Huazhou in the late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty. His grandfather was Chen Yu, a famous official with the reputation of "fan Zhen Qing Feng". In the following year, he was disqualified from taking the exam in Beijing in 1618. Chen Jian is known as a "talented person of Lingnan" for his "extensive group of books", "thousands of words in writing" and "all jokes and criticisms become articles".

Life of the characters

In 1645, in Huating county (now Songjiang County, Shanghai), Chen Zilong, the leader of the anti Qing rebel army, was arrested and jailed for eight years for his sympathy and support. Because of his moral talent, he was recommended as the educator of Jiangxia county (today's Wuchang county), the Minister of Nanjing Military Department, and the magistrate of Huating County in Songjiang Prefecture. Later, Chen Jian was listed as one of the famous officials in Jiangxia county annals and Songjiang Prefecture annals. Chen Jian, who lived in Nanjing, Suzhou and Songjiang for more than 40 years, made friends with famous people in Jiangnan through his poems. Mao Xihe (Mao Qiling), you Zhancheng, Xu Er'an and other famous people in the south of the Yangtze River called him "Mr. Chen Ziming, a talented person in the south of the five ridges". It is rare for Cantonese to enjoy this reputation among scholars in Jiangnan. Chen Jian hated corrupt officials, local tyrants and evil gentry. He often exposed, joked, ridiculed and lashed these people's ugly deeds, which made them embarrassed. So far, there are many legends of this kind among the people. In the spring of 1984, the Chinese Academy of Sciences held a "National Seminar on smart people" in Hubei Province. Chen Jian was listed as "Avanti type smart people". Chen Jian: Lu Yu has a spring well in Huqiu, beside which tea is produced. The land is only about Mu, and the quality is above that of LUOQI pine. Character evaluation

He was full of people's character, sympathized with the poor peasants, hated corrupt officials, and was open-minded. He made friends with the world's famous people with his poems. Chen Jianyi sympathized with the sufferings of the disaster victims in his hometown. He insisted on justice in Xiufu annals, angered state and government officials, and was jailed twice in the late Ming Dynasty.
