Later, he moved to Chengmen school as a captain and a regular servant of Sanqi, and then became a general of Wuwei. He was especially favored. He was also the commander of the Chinese and foreign military affairs. He entrusted the prince Cao Fang to Cao Shuang and Sima Yi and ordered them to assist the eight year old young leader. After Cao Fang succeeded to the throne, he added Cao Shuang's servant and changed his title to Marquis Wu'an. He ate 12000 households in the city and gave them swords and shoes to the palace. When he entered the court, he did not go to court, praised and worshiped him. He and Sima Yi each LED 3000 elite soldiers and jointly held the government. At the beginning of Cao Fang's accession to the throne, Cao Shuang discussed everything with Sima Yi and did not dare to specialize in it. Sima Yi thought that the country was sincere and courteous. Later, Cao Shuang obeyed Ding Mi's plan, respected Sima Yi as Taifu, and took the opportunity to cut off Sima Yi's military power. At the same time, Jiang Ji, Sima Yi's confidant, was promoted to the rank of Taiwei. He took the opportunity to remove Jiang Jiyuan's leading general who was in charge of the imperial guards, and appointed Cao Xi, his second younger brother, as the leader of the central army. He also abolished the captains of Zhonglei and Zhongjian battalions in the five battalions of the imperial guards, leaving the two battalions under Cao Xi's direct command. On the other hand, Cao Xun was appointed as the general of the military guard, commanding the military camp of the forbidden army, and Cao Yan was a regular cavalry servant, so Cao Shuang brothers fully mastered the forbidden army of the capital; his cousin Xia houxuan was appointed as the central guard army, in charge of the presidential generals, selecting and appointing military officers. In Cao Rui's reign, he Yan, Deng Yang, Li Sheng and Ding Mi of Pei state were all recruited by Cao Shuang as confidants and served as important positions in the central government. Ding MI, he Yan and Deng Yang were appointed as ministers, and he Yan was responsible for selecting officials. Li Sheng was appointed as Yin of Henan Province, and Bi GUI was appointed as captain of Sili, controlling the power inside and outside the capital When Shangshu played, he first reported to himself, and then asked Sima Yi after weighing his power. Later, he gradually stopped asking Sima Yi about his views on the government order and began to specialize in political affairs.
Wasted troops
In 244, in order to make Cao Shuang famous for his military achievements, Deng Yang and Li Sheng proposed to invade the Shu Han. Cao Shuang went west to Chang'an, and did not listen to Sima Yi's advice. He appointed Xia Hou Xuan as the general of the expedition to the West and the commander of Yongzhou and Liangzhou. Instead of leading 60000 or 70000 troops to Sichuan from Luogu, the transportation of Guanzhong, Qiang and di was unable to meet the needs of the March, which made the local people feel uneasy Cao Shuang was unable to advance because he and his army were short of supplies and food, and the general of Shu Han took the lead to defend the mountains. Yang Wei and Xia houxuan urged him to withdraw, but Deng Yang insisted on marching forward and argued with Yang Wei in front of Cao Shuang. Yang Wei said angrily, "Deng Yang and Li Sheng will ruin the national affairs, so they should be beheaded." Cao Shuang was displeased and had no choice but to withdraw. However, he had been held by Fei Yishi's advanced soldiers. Cao Shuang was able to withdraw only after a hard struggle. There were many deaths and injuries, and the cattle and horses he took to transport were almost exhausted. Qiang, Hu and other places complained about him, and Guanzhong was also wasted.
Dictatorship and disorder of government
In 247, Cao Shuang obeyed the advice of He Yan and others, and moved empress dowager Guo (not Cao Fang's mother) to Yongning palace. At that time, Cao Shuang brothers "were good at court politics, and they were in charge of banning soldiers. They were pro party and reformed the system repeatedly". As Sima Yi was gradually elevated, she could not participate in many political affairs, so she said that she was ill and avoided Cao Shuang, and kept a low profile and waited for the good opportunity. Cao Shuang was more unscrupulous and indulged his cronies. How to take hundreds of acres of mulberry fields and Tangmu land of Luoyang and yewang Diannong as his own property, steal official belongings, and ask for them from other states and counties, officials did not dare to resist. Some ministers who offended He Yan and others, such as Lu Yu and Fu Gu, were dismissed for trifles. Cao Shuang's diet, chariots and clothes are similar to those of the emperor. Moreover, many precious playthings were accumulated, and many wives and concubines even took seven or eight talented people of the Ming emperor as their wives and concubines. Moreover, he was good at taking Tai Yue musical instruments and forbidden soldiers from the military arsenal to make ornate grottoes. He drank and played with He Yan and others many times, which was extremely luxurious. Cao Xi, his younger brother, was very worried about this. He had been admonished many times, but Cao Shuang didn't listen. He wrote three more articles, stating that excessive arrogance and extravagance will bring disaster and failure. His words were very sincere, but he did not dare to criticize Cao Shuang directly. Instead, he pretended to admonish his brothers to warn Cao Shuang. Cao Shuang also knew that Cao Xi was actually admonishing him, so he was very unhappy. Seeing that Cao Shuang ignored the advice, Cao Xi had to cry and go away. Cao Shuang had been out of Luoyang many times with Cao Xi and others. His fellow countryman huanfan thought that their brothers were in charge of the imperial government and the forbidden army, so they should not leave together, lest once someone closed the gate against them, they would not be able to return to Luoyang to control the overall situation. Cao Shuang thought that no one could threaten him any more. However, Cao Shuang's group's perverse actions and misdeeds have already aroused the dissatisfaction of many ministers in the court. Although Sima Yi claimed that he was ill and could not go to the court, he secretly began to plan with the Taiwei Jiang Ji to overthrow Cao Shuang. In the ninth year of Zhengshi (248), Li Sheng was about to take up the post of Jingzhou thorn. Cao Shuang asked him to visit Sima Yi and try to find out the truth. Sima Yi pretended to be old and seriously ill in front of Li Sheng. Li Sheng replied that Cao Shuang believed it and was not wary of it.
Be punished for losing one's right
In 249, Cao Fang and Cao Shuang went to Gaoping mausoleum to pay homage to Emperor Wei Ming. Sima Yi launched a coup at Gaoping mausoleum in Luoyang. He went to Yongning palace and played a song to empress dowager Guo, who had always been at odds with Cao Shuang. He said that Cao Shuang's brothers disorganized the national code and were good at private affairs. Therefore, he asked the Empress Dowager to stop Cao Shuang, occupy Luoshui floating bridge with Jiang Ji and close the gate of Luoyang. Then he appointed situ Gaorou to take over the power of Cao Shuang and Wang Guanxing to take over the power of Cao Xi. After receiving the impeachment form, Cao Shuang was in a panic and did not dare to tell Cao Fang. So he left the emperor's chariot in the south of Yishui, cut down trees to build antlers, and sent thousands of troops to defend himself. At the same time, huanfan and Ma Luzhi escaped from Luoyang and went to Gaoping mausoleum to meet Cao Shuang. Huan fan urged Cao Shuang to take the emperor to Xuchang and called all the troops in the name of emperor to fight back against Sima Yi. Seeing that Cao Shuang had no idea, he advised Cao Xi to use the troops of Que Nan bieying and Dian Nong Xiaowei to resist temporarily, and then occupy Xuchang. He also said that he could use the seal of Da Si Nong to transport food and grass for their troops. But Cao Shuang brothers always hesitated. Fearing that Cao Shuang would fight back from the Jedi, Sima Yi successively sent Shi Zhong Xu Yun, Shang Shu Chen Tai, and Dian Zhong Xiao Wei Yin Damu, Cao Shuang's confidant, to persuade Cao Shuang to give up his power, and took Luoshui as an oath to promise that he would only hand over military power and retain his title. Jiang Ji also wrote a letter to Cao Shuang, saying that Sima Yi only wanted to deprive their brothers of military power, not harm them, but protect their wealth. Cao Shuang thought for a night and decided that Sima Yi was just trying to make him and his brothers give up military power. So he decided to give up resistance and asked the emperor to recall him and confess to Sima Yi. When Cao Shuang untied the seal ribbon, the master Yang Zong advised, "do you want to give up your power and go to Dongshi to be beheaded?" But Cao Shuang didn't listen. Huan fan also cried: "Cao Zidan, the great hero, gave birth to your brothers like pigs and cows! I didn't expect to be killed by you today! " After being removed from office, Cao Shuang brothers returned to the mansion as marquis. Sima Yi set up a high-rise building in the fourth corner of Cao Shuang mansion and ordered people to watch day and night. Cao Shuang brothers are not at ease, so they claim that there is not enough food and ask for food from Sima Yi. Later, when Sima Yi brings food, Cao Shuang brothers are very happy and think that Sima Yi will not kill them all. But soon after, Huang men Zhang Dang, who had a close relationship with Cao Shuang's brothers, was tortured by Sima Yi and had to confess that Cao Shuang and he Yan were conspiring against him. So Cao Shuang brothers and their cronies were arrested and slaughtered together on the 10th day of the first month of 1898 (February 9). During the Jiaping period, because of Cao Zhen's merits, Cao Xi was granted the title of Marquis of xinchangting as Cao Zhen's successor.
