Zhou zhirou
Zhou zhirou (October 28, 1899 - August 29, 1986), formerly known as Baifu, was born in Linhai, Zhejiang Province, and was a first-class general of the air force of the Republic of China.
He graduated from the Sixth Middle School of Zhejiang Province. In 1919, he was admitted to the eighth infantry section of Baoding military academy. He graduated in 1922 and was assigned to the second division of Zhejiang army for probation. In 1924, he was the instructor of Huangpu Military Academy. He took part in the eastern expedition and served as chief of staff of Humen fortress headquarters. During the northern expedition, he served as the commander and chief of staff of the 21st division of the National Revolutionary Army, participated in the Longtan campaign, and was promoted to major general in April 1928. In 1932, he served as commander of the 14th division and deputy commander of the 18th army. In 1933, he visited Europe and America to investigate the aviation industry of various countries. In 1934, he was the president of Jianqiao central aviation school, and in 1936, he was the director of the Aviation Commission of the Republic of China. During the Anti Japanese War, he served as the commander in chief of the former enemy general command of the air force and the chief educator of the Central Air Force Academy. He went to India with Chiang Kai Shek and Egypt to attend the Cairo Conference. In August 1944, the national government awarded the order of blue sky and white sun. In 1946, he served as commander in chief of the air force and director of the first office of the Chamberlain.
After going to Taiwan, he held the posts of "chief of staff of the first rank General of the army" and "commander in chief of the air force", "chairman of the Taiwan provincial government", "chief of staff of the presidential office", "chairman of the National Construction Planning Commission", "chairman of the National Construction Research Commission", etc. He has successively served as a member of the Seventh Central Committee of the Kuomintang, a member of the eighth, ninth and tenth Standing Committee of the Central Committee, a member of the Eleventh Central Committee appraisal committee, and a chairman of the presidium of the Twelfth Central Committee appraisal committee. On August 29, 1986, he died in the Third Military General Hospital of Taipei. He is the author of ten years of the air force.

Early years
Born in a wealthy family on November 30, 1899, his father Zhou Tengshan (CI Shan) was a junior officer in the late Qing Dynasty and later opened a traditional Chinese medicine shop. In 1910, Zhou zhirou's father died in middle age and was brought up by his mother, Hou's family. In his early years, he enlightened in his hometown private school, loved literature, especially Lu You's poems, and then he went to the Sixth Middle School of Zhejiang Province. He graduated from high school in August 1918. In the spring of 1919, Zhou Baifu was admitted to the fourth team of the eighth infantry section of Baoding military academy, and met Chen Cheng and Luo Zhuoying. Zhou Baifu graduated from Baoding Military Academy in June 1922 and was assigned to the second division of Zhejiang Army (Zhang Zaiyang Division) in Beiyang as an apprentice. Later, he was promoted to platoon leader. He was promoted to company commander of Zhejiang army in 1923. In the spring of 1924, Zhou Baifu went south to Guangzhou and was recommended by Chen Cheng. He joined the Kuomintang and changed his name to Zhou zhirou. He took part in the establishment of Huangpu Military Academy. In September, he served as the military instructor of the Kuomintang army academy. He took part in the first eastern expedition in February 1925 and the second in October 1925. After defeating Chen Jiongming, he was promoted to chief of staff of Humen fortress headquarters. In July 1926, the national government vowed to launch the northern expedition. Zhou zhirou went to Shaoguan to take over the post of the first supplementary division (later changed to the 21st division of the National Revolutionary Army, with serious division commander) and the third Regiment (later changed to the 63rd regiment, with Chen Cheng as its head) attached to the regiment, and moved to Jiangxi with the East Route Army. In January 1927, he entered Zhejiang Province from Jiangxi Province and fought with Lu Xiangting army of sun Chuanfang's department in Longyou and Lanxi. In February, he built a bridge to cross the river in langshibu, Tonglu, and attacked Meng zhaoyue's department. He occupied Xindeng on the 15th, conquered Hangzhou on the 18th, captured Wujiang on the 18th, and entered Suzhou on the 21st. In April, he served as the head of the supplementary regiment of the 21st division (division commander Cao Wanshun and deputy division commander Chen Cheng). In July, Chen Cheng took over the 21st division of the army Zhou zhirou served as the chief of staff of the division and took part in the battle of Longtan in August. In April 1928, the KMT continued the northern expedition. Zhou zhirou was appointed director of the military and Political Department of the Military Commission of the Nanjing National Government. In June, he was appointed director of the major general's office in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. In April 1930, he returned to the post of chief of staff of the 11th Army division (Chen Cheng) and succeeded as the commander of the 31st brigade. In May, he was ordered to take part in the Central Plains war and participated in a series of important battles with Chen Cheng, such as conquering mamuji, guide, Jinan and Zhengzhou. In August, he was promoted to deputy commander of the 14th Army division of the 18th Army (Chen Cheng). In February 1932, he served as the commander of the 14th division of the 18th army. On March 12, he was promoted to the deputy commander of the 5th army. In June, he was changed to the deputy commander of the 18th Army (Chen Cheng), becoming Chen Cheng's confidant. In May 1933, recommended by Chen Cheng, Chiang Kai Shek selected Zhou zhirou to study air force education in European and American countries. Since then, he broke away from the army system and began his career in the air force. After going abroad, Zhou zhirou studied English hard and carefully investigated aviation construction and air force training in various countries. Zhou zhirou returned to China in April 1934 and presented an investigation report and a plan for the construction of the air force to Chiang Kai Shek. On July 14, Zhou zhirou became the president of the central aviation school, providing strict technical and spiritual training to the cadets, as well as flying solo for many times. In May 1934, Chiang Kai Shek set up the National Aviation Construction Association, with Zhou zhirou as its standing member. On January 24, 1936, Zhou zhirou was appointed lieutenant general of the army by the Nationalist government; he was the director of the Kuomintang Aviation Committee, who was responsible for leading the national aviation industry. He seized the time to train pilots, purchase aircraft from foreign countries, and set up military airports in all parts of the country; in May, the Aviation Committee was reorganized, with Chiang Kai Shek concurrently as chairman and Zhou zhirou as chairman; in October, he was appointed to Chiang Kai Shek On the 50th birthday, the air force, led by Gao Zhihang, used American made aircraft to form four characters of "Zhongzheng" and "50th" over Nanjing. The Kuomintang air force has begun to take shape. In May 1937, Zhou zhirou was assigned to the National Air Force military region and reorganized the Aviation Commission. Zhou zhirou was appointed as the standing chairman and director of the first department. He was the president of Kunming central aviation school in 1938. During the Anti Japanese War, he also served as the commander in chief of the former enemy headquarters of the air force and led the Chinese air force to fight against Japan. in 1946, the Aviation Commission was reorganized as commander of the air force general command. Zhou zhirou, who is nearly 40 years old, has done one thing to stop youyou's mouth. He began to learn how to fly airplanes. Because of his good English, he can communicate with foreign instructors freely and can fly independently soon. He also summed up his own set of flight Essentials: "take off with one pole, landing with three rudders", which won the praise of most of the teachers and students of aviation school. He attaches great importance to aviation education, and his works are mostly related to the air force, such as "Air Force Command and application", "national defense and aviation", "World Air Force armament", "Air Force decade", etc. After the outbreak of the Anti Japanese War, Zhou zhirou also served as the commander in chief of the former enemy command of the air force, commanding the Chinese air force, the Soviet volunteer air force and the US volunteer air force to fight against Japan. From the first record of killing six enemy planes in the "August 14" air battle to the "February 18", "April 29" and "May 31" air battle, Zhou zhirou dealt a heavy blow to the Japanese aggressors and encouraged the morale of the whole country in the Anti Japanese war. In 1950, Zhou zhirou retired to Taiwan and was awarded the rank of first-class general. In addition, Zhou zhirou is a local sage who is enthusiastic about the cause of his hometown. He once inscribed plaques for the Zhou family in Nanshan, Changsha, Zhouzhou and Fuyang. In May 1946, Zhou zhirou learned that the General Administration of rehabilitation and relief had a batch of medical equipment and materials for US military aid, which could run a military division level hospital. He wrote to Taizhou Office of the Commissioner, proposing to set up a hospital in Linhai, and directly requested the Department of health to allocate the materials and funds needed for the establishment of the hospital, and then raised funds in Shanghai and other places. On June 1, 1947, Taizhou Public Hospital opened. Zhou Wenda, a professor of the Provincial Medical College (now Zhejiang University Medical College) and a tropical disease expert, served as the first president of the Department of health. He was also from Dongcheng. When I went to Dongcheng Town for an interview, I stopped by Zhou zhirou's former residence in the town. This is a building with a bucket like structure, facing south from the north, with five bays on the plane, two floors with single eaves and two hard hill slopes. The building area is more than 550 square meters. The structure is simple and generous, and the whole oil is rust red. According to reports, Zhou zhirou's former residence was built in 1940, when his mother's 60th birthday. In 2003 and 2017, Zhou zhirou's former residence was identified as "coastal cultural relics protection unit" and "the seventh batch of provincial cultural relics protection units in Zhejiang Province".

He went to Taiwan in 1949 and later served as the chief of staff of Taiwan's "Ministry of national defense", "member of the Design Committee of the Executive Yuan" and "chairman of the ordnance Commission of the Ministry of national defense". He served as "Secretary General of the National Defense Conference" in 1954. In 1957, he was transferred to "President of Taiwan Province" and concurrently served as "Taiwan Security commander" and "civil defense commander". in 1962, he was appointed chief of staff of the Taiwan authorities. Since September 1966, he has successively served as the strategic adviser of the staff organization of the leaders of the Taiwan authorities, the director of the attendant room of the staff organization of the leaders of the Taiwan authorities, the chairman of the National Construction Research Committee, and the chairman of the China Golf Association, and has been awarded the rank of first-class general. In August 1986, he died in Taipei at the age of 88.
