Huang Sheng
Huang Sheng (859-909), whose name is Mingyuan, was born in Xian county (now Yinxian county) in Tang Dynasty. He was the commander in the south of Dongnan road in Zhejiang Province and the governor of Mingzhou. When Emperor Fu Zong of Tang Dynasty enlisted in Wanghai town (today's Zhenhai District), he was not employed because of his short body. Later, he recruited many people to defend Pingjia, and Zhong Jiwen, the governor of Mingzhou, served as the assistant general. The place name of "Jiangxia Street" in Sanjiangkou of Ningbo today is derived from the posthumous title of "Jiangxia Marquis" granted by song Taizu to Huang Sheng. To commemorate Huang Sheng, the governor of Luocheng in Mingzhou, Yongcheng people named the most prosperous street in Yongcheng as "Jiangxia Street".
Life
In 881 (the first year of Zhonghe period), Tiantai General Liu Wen attacked Mingzhou and was defeated by Yangshi. His department Du Zong occupied Fenghua from Ninghai. Huang Sheng led his department to attack. He did not kill Du Zong and drove to Taizhou. He seized all Su Bo and returned them to the government. He was promoted to Fenghua as the capital guard and served as the deputy commander of Feidu. When Yuyao town general Xiang Jia attacked Yuezhou, Hangzhou governor Dong Chang couldn't resist. Mingzhou governor Zhong Jiwen sent Sheng to lead the expedition and captured Xiang Jia. He then awarded his military service to Sanqi Changshi and deputy commander of East Zhejiang Road. In 892 (the first year of Jingfu), Zhong Jiwen died, and Huang Sheng was taken as the governor of Mingzhou (another said that he called himself the governor). He protected the territory and pacified the people, and recruited many scholars. Most of Jiangdong scholars came back, and Sheng built houses for resettlement, which was called "cuodaying". Later, Dong Chang declared himself Emperor. In 896 (the third year of qianning), Qian Miao sent troops to discuss Dong, Sheng led the troops to respond, and later Dong Chang was killed. In 898 (the fifth year of qianning), Sheng led the people to build Luocheng by quarrying stones to ensure the safety of Yizhou. The perimeter was 18 Li, and the floating bridge of Dongjin in Fenghua was rebuilt. After 18 years in office, he was honest and upright, and later he was the founder of Jiangxia county. On his deathbed, he should not allow his son to bear the shadow of his heir. All the money in his Treasury was inscribed with the word "send envoy".
Commemoration of future generations
2009 is the 1150th anniversary of Huang Sheng's birth, the governor of Mingzhou in Tang Dynasty. On March 28, Ningbo Cultural Research Association, Haishu historical and cultural heritage protector Association and Jiangshan Town Cultural Protection Institute jointly held a forum to commemorate Huang Sheng's 1150th birthday. President Jin Tao and nearly 20 members attended the symposium. At the meeting, Mr. Zhang Ruan, Qian Maowei, Dai Songyue, Yang Gucheng and other relevant scholars and leaders reviewed and recalled Huang Sheng's great contributions to the people's living and working in Mingzhou in the late Tang Dynasty, and fully affirmed his important position in the history of Ningbo local development.
