Zheng Hangsheng
Zheng Hangsheng (1936-november 9, 2014), a native of Yueqing, Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, was born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province and grew up in Yuyao, Zhejiang Province. Professor of sociology and doctoral supervisor of Renmin University of China.
Before he died, he was honorary president of Chinese society, member of Social Science Committee of Ministry of education, chairman of sociology discipline Steering Committee of Ministry of education, chief expert of central Marxist theoretical research and construction engineering sociology, director of sociology theory and method research center of Renmin University of China, first-class professor and doctoral supervisor of sociology, and also sociology of central China Normal University Honorary president of the hospital.
At about 9:00 on November 9, 2014, Mr. Zheng Hangsheng died of illness at the age of 78. He devoted himself to the Sinicization of sociology and the construction of sociology with Chinese characteristics, created a school of social operation, and had an influence beyond the sociological circles.

Zheng Hangsheng, first-class professor of Renmin University of China, life-long distinguished professor of central China Normal University, honorary Dean of School of sociology, doctoral supervisor. He once served as vice president of Renmin University of China, President of Chinese society society, member and convener of the evaluation group of political science, sociology and Ethnology of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. At present, he is the director of the theory and method research center of Renmin University of China, the key research base of Humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of education, the head of the sociological evaluation group of the National Social Science Foundation of China, the member of the Social Science Committee of the Ministry of education, and the honorary president of the Chinese society.
Since 2004, he has been the chief expert of the textbook compilation group of Marxist theoretical research and construction engineering sociology. He has presided over a number of projects such as the National Social Science Foundation and the Ministry of education, published dozens of monographs and national textbooks, and published about 300 academic papers. So far, the sociological theories with Chinese characteristics are: social operation theory, social transformation theory, discipline localization theory, social mutual construction theory and so on. In October 1991, he was awarded the honorary certificate of national experts with outstanding contributions. The report on academic influence of Chinese Humanities and Social Sciences (2000-2004), published in 2008, ranks third among the most cited authors of sociological papers. He was selected into the list of 505 scholars of "2007 (the first) China's outstanding social scientists". In 2009, it was rated as one of the 50 outstanding professional and technical talents in the Fourth National Congress.

Professor Zheng Hangsheng has made a lot of achievements in sociological theory, and has put forward four theories, namely, the theory of social operation, the theory of social transformation, the theory of sociological localization, and the theory of social mutual construction. These four theories are regarded as "original sociological theories of Chinese people with Oriental academic character in the world". He and his academic team are known as the Oriental "School of social operation" in sociological circles. He himself is regarded as one of the "pioneers of sociological theories with Chinese characteristics". Some scholars believe that his sociological theory marks "the rise of sociology with Chinese characteristics in the world sociological pattern".
1961 - graduated from the Philosophy Department of Renmin University of China, majoring in philosophy, with a five-year undergraduate program, and stayed in the university to teach.
From 1981 to 1983, he studied sociology and modern western philosophy at the University of Bristol, UK. As an associate researcher, he was a visiting scholar and studied sociology and modern western philosophy.
He was appointed to establish the Institute of Sociology of the National People's Congress in 1984 and the Department of Sociology in 1987.
From 1986 to 1993, as an academic leader, he established master's program and doctor's program of "sociological theory and method" respectively. In 1998, he established the post doctoral mobile station of sociology.
From September 1987 to May 1997, he was the first director of the Institute of sociology, Renmin University of China, the first director and vice president of the Department of sociology.
From August to October 1994, he studied and lectured at Duke University.
1997.8-10 - lecturing at Sydney University of technology, Australia.
From April 1998 to January 1999, he worked as a guest professor in Japan's Ritsumeikan University, giving lectures for one academic year.
November 2012 - visiting professor in Zhejiang agriculture and Forestry University.
In 2003, he was the chief expert of the eight year Olympic Games overall impact project (Oggi).
Since 2004, he has been the chief expert of the textbook compilation group of Marxist theoretical research and construction engineering sociology. He has been abroad for many times to attend international academic conferences and give lectures.
Before he died, he was the director of the theory and method research center of Renmin University of China, the key research base of Humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of education, the president of the Chinese society, the president of the Beijing society, the convener of the political sociology evaluation group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, the leader of the sociology evaluation group of the National Social Science Fund, and the chairman of the sociology teaching steering committee of the Ministry of education, Executive director of China Society for human rights studies, director of human rights research center of Renmin University of China. He respectively presided over the key topics of Sociology in the seventh, eighth, tenth, and fifth year of NSFC and the major topics in the ninth five year of NSFC.
Professor Zheng Hangsheng has devoted his life to the education of the party and the people. He is a member of the National Advisory Committee of experts on philosophy and Social Sciences, a member and chief expert of the Central Advisory Committee on Marxist theoretical research and construction engineering, a member of the Social Sciences Committee of the Ministry of Education, an honorary president of the Chinese society, an honorary president of the Beijing society, and a member of the social development committee of Beijing Zheng Hangsheng President of the foundation, honorary president of the world Zheng's Association, chairman of the highest decision-making committee, and President of Henan Zheng Culture Research Institute.
