Su Shuyang

Su Shuyang (1938-july 16, 2019), a contemporary playwright, writer, litterateur and poet, has a pen name of Shu Yang. He was born in Baoding, Hebei Province. Now engaged in cultural and historical research. He graduated from Renmin University of China in 1960. Engaged in education for many years, has trained many students. With his profound cultural accumulation and unique historical and literary perspective, he has created many literary works which are widely spread at home and abroad. His works have won many awards: National Book Award, five one project award, Huabiao award, Wenhua award, Golden Rooster Award, short story award, prose award, people's literature award, Wujin award, etc. in July 2010, he won the United Nations Special Award for artistic contribution.

On the evening of July 16, 2019, Su Shuyang died in Beijing at the age of 81.

He was born in Baoding, Hebei Province in 1938, enjoying a lifetime allowance. Before he died, he served as honorary screenwriter of Beijing People's Art Theatre, consultant of China Film Association, honorary member of the whole committee of China Writers Association, honorary vice president of China Film Literature Association, director of China International Exchange Association, vice president of Xia Yan film society, executive director of Renmin University of China, member of China famous Calligraphers Association, member of academic Steering Committee, and member of the whole committee of China Federation of literary and art circles He is a member of the art Steering Committee, member of the whole committee of the Chinese Writers Association, vice chairman of the film and television literature Committee, member of the creation Committee of the Chinese Dramatists Association, and Secretary General of the Chinese film literature society.

Literary creation began in 1953.

He graduated from Renmin University of China in 1960. He teaches in Renmin University of China, Hebei Beijing Normal University (now Hebei Normal University) and Beijing College of traditional Chinese medicine (now Beijing University of traditional Chinese Medicine). He has a disciple named Shu Ziyuan, a famous young poet.

From 1960 to 1978, he taught in Renmin University of China, Beijing Normal University of Hebei and Beijing College of traditional Chinese medicine.

In 1978, he was transferred to Beijing Film Studio as a screenwriter (national first-class screenwriter). After 1979, he served as director of China Writers Association and vice chairman of China filmmakers Association. His drama "Dan Xin Pu" won the first prize for performance creation in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the founding of the people's Republic of China. "Neighbors" won the national drama, drama, opera excellent script award.

Drama works include more than ten works, such as "Dan Xin Pu". There are more than ten films such as sunset street. The novel hometown. There are five collections of short stories. There are six essays. There are three poetry collections. Others include literary theory, biography and so on. His works have won many home awards, and four of them have won five one project awards.

In 1991, he was granted life-long allowance by experts of the State Council.

In 1993, he was diagnosed with cancer. First, he removed part of his stomach for gastric cancer, then his left lung for lung cancer, and then his kidney for kidney cancer. In spite of these painful experiences, he continued to write, wrote more than 3 million words of articles and published many works. He has been relying on the "ideal kite" Teacher Liu's optimism, strong, self-confidence, tenacious to survive.

On November 17, 2016, "the preparatory ceremony of China Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritance center and the issuing ceremony of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Tour Series" was held at the Great Hall of the people in Beijing. Su Shuyang won the title of "Cultural Ambassador of intangible cultural heritage of great powers".

On November 24, 2018, the launching ceremony of "pay homage to the playwright 2018" and Su Shuyang's works exhibition was held in Beijing. The purpose of the activity is to return to the origin of dramatic art and explore more excellent plays that have never been formally put on the stage or even publicly read and performed. Every year, it is planned to invite an influential playwright to read two or three of his works that have not been officially performed, and to perform one or two of them. The first "pay homage to the playwright" performance project includes Su Shuyang's "moth", "Moonlight" and "Salzburg's umbrella".

On the evening of July 16, 2019, he died in Beijing at the age of 81.

The work "the ideal kite" has been selected into lesson 22 of the sixth grade textbook of Jiangsu Education Press and lesson 26 of the sixth grade textbook of s edition, expressing his yearning for the teacher Liu who once taught him.
