Zhu Xiaodong, male, Han nationality, born on September 21, 1932 in Kaifeng City, Henan Province, is a member of the Communist Party of China, academician of the Chinese Academy of engineering, expert in cardiovascular surgery, and chief physician of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.

Zhu Xiaodong graduated from Harbin Medical University in 1956, became a member of the Communist Party of China in 1956, worked in Beijing People's Liberation Army chest hospital from 1956 to 1958, served as chief physician of cardiothoracic surgery in Beijing Fuwai Hospital from 1958 to 1984, graduated from Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences with a master's degree in 1965, served as director of cardiothoracic surgery in Beijing Fuwai Hospital from 1985 to 1994, and served as chief physician of cardiothoracic surgery in 1992 From 1998 to 1997, he served as president of Beijing Fuwai Hospital and director of cardiovascular disease research center; in 1996, he was elected as academician of Chinese Academy of engineering; from 1998 to 2001, he served as president of Wuhan Asian cardiovascular disease hospital; in 2003, he served as chief physician of cardiac surgery of cardiovascular disease hospital of Fuwai Hospital.

Zhu Xiaodong was born in an intellectual family. After graduating from the Department of chemistry of Wuhan University, his father taught in a middle school in Kaifeng. He was very strict with his students and paid more attention to Zhu Xiaodong. Zhu Xiaodong's father advocated saving the country by science. After liberation, his father was an independent member of the Kaifeng CPPCC. In the late period of the Anti Japanese War, life was difficult at home.
