Anecdotes and allusions
And Chiang Kai Shek have a long history
The origin of Jiang and Chen started from the relationship between Chen Qimei and Chiang Kai Shek. When Chiang Kai Shek was young, he studied in Japan and met Chen Qimei, who was nine years older than him. In 1916, Chen Qimei was assassinated by Yuan Shikai. At that time, no one dared to deal with it. Only Chiang Kai Shek came to collect his body for him and called himself "Meng Di" in the sacrificial words. It can be seen that they had a lot of friendship. The next generation of the Chen family also used to call Chiang Kai Shek "the third uncle of Chiang Kai Shek.".
In 1917, Chen Lifu was admitted to Tianjin Beiyang university to study industry and mining with the fifth place in Shanghai. After graduation, he went to the United States to study. Just when he was ready to accept the appointment of a mining engineer by Zhongxing Coal Mining Company, his elder brother Chen Guofu sent two telegrams from Chiang Kai Shek. Chiang Kai Shek expressed his hope that he would come to Guangzhou to help himself. Chen Lifu's ambition was not in politics, but because of his elder brother's persuasion and his relationship with Chiang Kai Shek, he went to Guangzhou. Since then, Chen Lifu has stepped into the political arena. It is a lifelong regret that he has not become an engineer. In 1925, Chen Lifu, who returned from studying in the United States, became Chiang Kai Shek's confidential secretary. In 1929, at the age of 29, Chen Lifu was appointed Secretary General of the Central Party Department of the Kuomintang.
Chen Lifu knew Mr. Jiang's temper. When he worked in the Chiang Kai Shek mansion, he often scolded Chiang Kai Shek. So before taking over the post, he said to Mr. Jiang: I have no other requirements, but I can't scold me. "If the headmaster gets angry with me, I'll quit the next day." During his 25 years of service to Chiang Kai Shek, Chiang Kai Shek did not scold him.
The Xi'an incident shocked both at home and abroad. After Jiang was put under house arrest by Zhang and Yang, he Yingqin led the Nanjing government, and Chen Lifu, Chen Guofu and Dai Jitao strongly advocated a military solution. After the peaceful settlement of the Xi'an Incident, the Shaanxi provincial authorities of the Kuomintang built a pavilion in Chiang Kai Shek's hiding place, named "Zhengqi Pavilion". Dai Jitao, Chen Cheng, Chen Guofu, Chen Lifu, Hu zongnan, Wei Lihuang, Wang Yaowu and other important figures of the Kuomintang successively wrote inscriptions in the pavilion to praise Chiang Kai Shek.
Minister of education during the Anti Japanese War
Chen's master's degree in politics was undoubtedly a rarity in China in the 1930s. After the outbreak of the Anti Japanese War, Chen Lifu was made Minister of education by Chiang Kai Shek for seven years. Chen Lifu is very proud of this experience. In his memory, he commented on his merits and demerits as follows:
I have devoted myself to the party and the state for decades. I have participated in the work of the party and the government. Success or failure, gain or loss, and need to be fair. Only in the wartime period of educational administration, although it may not be able to achieve the ideal, I have done my best for the country. I always feel that the education and cultural work of cultivating people for a hundred years is the most meaningful and positive work, and the establishment of education and cultural undertakings is the most fruitful "long-distance" investment.
During the Anti Japanese War, Chinese society entered the most difficult period, and Chen Lifu did his best to do a lot for China's education. In just seven years, Chen Lifu has done the following things for China's education cause:
First of all, to meet the needs of the Anti Japanese War, we established a set of systems and programs conducive to wartime education. After the outbreak of the Anti Japanese War, in order to avoid the disaster of the war, colleges and universities in the mainland moved in one after another. However, due to the war, almost all the colleges and universities moved in suffered heavy losses. According to incomplete statistics: among the 108 universities before the war, 94 moved in. The average loss of books and instruments in school buildings is more than 60%, of which 18 cannot be reopened. In addition, under the influence of the Anti Japanese War, teachers and students were indignant, opposed to class, and demanded to devote themselves to the army. After Chen Lifu took office, he thought that students should still take reading as their duty, master knowledge, and then talk about saving the country and the war of resistance. Therefore, he personally drew up the outline of the guidelines for the implementation of Wartime Education at all levels, including "nine major guidelines" and "17 key points for implementation". Its center is "in order to cultivate healthy citizens in all aspects of morality, intelligence and physical education, and make them bear the arduous responsibility of building a new country. Therefore, young people's schooling is their duty from the national standpoint. It is a crisis of the decline of our country that young people abandon their studies. In this way, it not only affirmed the students' enthusiasm for anti Japanese War, but also pointed out a direction for wartime education, so that the chaotic educational circles had a certain degree of stability and norms.
Secondly, we should make great efforts to build Chinese universities. Because of the influence of the western education system, Chinese universities are all western universities
