He began to learn piano in 1943. In 1944, he studied piano for three years under the guidance of Mei Baiqi, conductor of Shanghai Symphony Orchestra.

In 1951, she studied piano for one year under the guidance of Mrs. Bronstein, a professor of Shanghai Conservatory of music. In February 1952, he played Beethoven's Concerto with Shanghai Symphony Orchestra.

In 1953, he won the third place in the piano competition in the 4th world and friendship festival held in Bucharest and was invited to perform in Eastern European countries.

In 1955, he won the third place in the fifth Chopin International Piano Competition and the best performance award of Mazurka, which is the first time that the Oriental won the award in this competition.

In December 1982, he was employed as an adjunct professor in the Piano Department of the Central Conservatory of music. In 1985, he was the judge of Chopin International Piano Competition. In February 2001, a piano solo concert was held in Singapore; in October, a solo concert was held in Beijing Poly Theatre; in the same year, a concert was held in cooperation with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta.

In April 2004, he held a concert with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta. In January 2005, a solo concert was held in the auditorium of Tianjin Grand Theater. In November, a concert was held in Guangzhou Xinghai Concert Hall.

In 2010, he participated in the series concerts of "Chopin's 200th birthday" held by the National Grand Theater of China; in the same year, he served as the judge of the 16th Chopin International Piano Competition; in the same year, he served as the judge of Queen Elizabeth International Piano Competition; in the same year, he held a solo concert in Haikou, playing concertanse, Cantabile, Barcarolle, Polonaise fantasy, etc In the same year, in cooperation with Macao Orchestra, he performed a concert of "FU Cong's return to glory" in Macao Cultural Center.

In November 2011, he held a solo concert at Zhongshan Park Concert Hall in Beijing; in the same year, he held a solo concert at the concert hall of Henan Art Center, playing Beethoven's Piano Sonata in D major, Liszt's piedrake sonnet 123, Chopin's 12 Etudes and Schubert's three piano pieces.

In April 2012, a solo concert was held in Taiwan Concert Hall; in the same year, a master class was held in Taiwan Normal University; in May 2012, a solo concert was held in Tianjin Grand Theater Concert Hall.

In April 2013, he held a solo concert in the concert hall of Henan Art Center, playing Debussy's "salute to Haydn", Beethoven's "Sonata in E major No. 109", Schubert's "Sonata in G major No. 894" and Scarlatti's Six Sonatas.

In May 2014, a solo concert was held in Hangzhou Grand Theater to perform the works of Mozart and Chopin; in the same year, a concert was held in Wuhan Qintai concert hall to perform the works of Chopin and Mozart.
