Yuan Weimin
Yuan Weimin, born in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province on July 8, 1939, joined the Communist Party of China in 1962 and graduated from Nanjing Institute of physical education. He is a former Chinese volleyball player, former head coach of Chinese women's volleyball team and former director of the State General Administration of sports.
After he announced his retirement in 1974, Yuan Weimin became the head coach of the National Women's volleyball team, commanding the Chinese women's volleyball team. In 1981, 1982 and 1984, he won the women's Volleyball Championship in the 3rd World Cup, the 9th World Women's Volleyball Championship and the 23rd Los Angeles Olympic Games, respectively, which made the Chinese women's volleyball team a historic breakthrough in "three consecutive championships" in the world volleyball arena for the first time. Yuan Weimin won the Best Coach Award in the third women's Volleyball World Cup.
Since 1984, Yuan Weimin has successively served as deputy director of the State Sports Commission, vice president of the National Sports Federation, vice president of the Chinese Olympic Committee, director of the State General Administration of sports, President of the Chinese Olympic Committee, President of the Chinese Volleyball Association, and director of the Anti Doping Commission of the Chinese Olympic Committee. In December 2004, Yuan Weimin, 65, retired from the position of director of the State General Administration of sports. On October 13, 2007, Yuan Weimin was awarded the excellent coach award by the Volleyball Hall of fame in the United States, becoming the second Chinese to be elected into the Volleyball Hall of fame.
Early experience
Yuan Weimin was born in a vegetable farmer's family in the suburb of Suzhou. His father was a simple and kind-hearted farmer, with few words, and only knew how to work all his life; his mother was kind, straightforward, and strong-minded, carrying the burden of selling vegetables on the street, and came back to do housework. Illiterate parents with hard work to raise six children, the youngest Yuan Weimin is the beloved of this harmonious family. He took care of himself when he was young. Sports career

Teaching experience
In 1974, Yuan Weimin became the head coach of the National Women's volleyball team, commanding the Chinese women's volleyball team. It took Yuan Weimin only five years to make this team from scratch to become the world champion. After that, he won the world champion again and achieved "three consecutive championships".
During the eight years from 1976 to 1984, Yuan Weimin led the Chinese women's volleyball team to fight in 15 countries and regions, participated in various world competitions, defeated the strong teams of the United States, Japan, Cuba and the Soviet Union, and played 250 international games, winning 223 and losing 27.
From November 7 to 16, 1981, the 3rd World Cup was held in Japan. Yuan Weimin led the Chinese women's volleyball team to enter the world. After two hours and five minutes of fierce fighting, the Chinese team beat the Japanese team 3-2 and won seven victories.
From September 12 to 25, 1982, the 9th World Women's Volleyball Championship was held in Peru. Under the leadership of Yuan Weimin, the Chinese women's volleyball team won 15-1 in the first inning, and the sixth miracle of 3-0 appeared naturally. The Chinese team won the world championship for the first time.
From July 28 to August 11, 1984, the 23rd Olympic Games was held in the United States. China beat Brazil and the Federal Republic of Germany 3-0 in the group stage. On August 3, the Chinese team met the American team. Yuan Weimin put forward three requirements: self-confidence; concentration without interference; overcome the fluke mentality, take the initiative to fight each other. Due to the great pressure of thinking, formality, emotional fluctuation and eagerness for success, the Chinese team had been in the lead in the first, third and fourth innings of the loss, and stopped every 13 points. The opponents were in a hurry to catch up with each other. At the critical moment, they repeatedly lost opportunities and lost 1-3. The total score of the four games was 47-46, and the Chinese team got one more point. In the semi-final, China beat Japan 3-0. August 8 was the battle between China and the United States. In the first game, the Chinese team led 14-9, but they were chased to a 14 draw by the other team. The morale of the United States was booming. Yuan Weimin replaced Hou Yuzhu's serve, which was unexpected by the US team. Hou Yuzhu's long-distance floating ball fell directly into the opponent's court, 15-14. It took only 49 minutes for the Chinese team to win the last two games easily, winning the U.S. team 3-0, not only winning the Olympic championship, but also achieving the "three consecutive championships" that the Chinese people are looking forward to.
Political experience
In June 1992, Yuan Weimin was elected chairman of China Football Association and was employed as honorary professor by Nanjing Institute of physical education in the same year.
In September 1994, Yuan Weimin was elected vice president of the Chinese Olympic Committee and President of the Asian Wushu Federation in October of the same year.
On September 14, 1995, Yuan Weimin was the president of the board of directors of China Sports Science Association.
On April 2, 1996, Yuan Weimin was elected as the acting president of the acpai at the 16th acpai Executive Council in Canberra, Australia.

Personal life
Yuan's daily hobbies are calligraphy, reading newspapers and doing housework.
Yuan Weimin likes newspaper clipping, which has been a habit for more than 30 years. When he read the wonderful articles, he would cut them off, stick them on the pictorial and sort them out. Over time, there are many newspaper clippings at home. A few years ago, Wei Jizhong, President of the International Volleyball Association, went to the office to see him when he had something to do. During the conversation, he encountered a policy doubt. He said, "wait a minute." he opened the carefully collected "Yuan's newspaper clippings" and it was sure that the medicine was cured.
In his spare time, Yuan Weimin also likes to help his wife do housework and figure out some tips for living at home. When someone comes home as a guest, he will show others around his "works": clothes hangers made from drink bottles, etc.
Yuan Weimin's family likes to eat sweets, and their family keeps small food such as candies and preserves. One year, when the Asian Championship was held in Thailand, Yuan Weimin, chairman of the Asian Volleyball Federation, fell to the ground in a coma when he went on stage to give awards. After Chen minzhang, then Minister of health, personally examined him, he was diagnosed with hypoglycemia. Since then, eating desserts has become Yuan Weimin's hobby.
Yuan Weimin used to smoke a lot. When he was a coach, he had two boxes of "Marlboro" a day. After the coma in Thailand, according to Chen minzhang's instructions, he completely quit smoking, and he was determined to succeed once.
