Ma Teng (?)? - 212), the word Shoucheng. Fufeng Maoling (now Xingping City, Shaanxi Province) was a warlord in Liangzhou in the late Eastern Han Dynasty, and a descendant of Fubo General Ma Yuan.
Ma Teng is more than eight feet long, with a big body and a strong face and nose. He is a virtuous, honest and respected man. Early experience
Ma Teng is said to be the descendant of General Ma Yuan of hanfubo. His father once served as Tianshui LAN Gan Wei. Later he lost his official post and stayed in Longxi. He married a Qiang daughter and gave birth to Ma Teng. When Ma Teng was young, he was poor and had no property. He often cut wood from Zhangshan and sold it in the city to support himself. Ma Teng is more than eight feet long (about 1.85 meters today). He has a big body, a different face and nose, and a virtuous personality. People admire him very much.
In April 187, Geng Bi, the governor of Liangzhou, was appointed as a traitor, which led to the rebellion of Hanyang Kingdom, Di, Qiang and other nationalities. The state and county gathered warriors to fight against the rebellion. Ma Teng was highly valued by state and county officials. He was appointed to be engaged in the army and led the army. Later, he made meritorious contributions to the army and was promoted to the rank of army Sima and General Qian pian.
Join the rebels

Cold after defeat
In the first year of Xingping (194), Ma Teng asked Li He for private affairs, but he didn't get permission, so he led his troops to attack each other. Han Xiandi sent envoys to persuade him, but they failed. Then Han Sui, who was stationed in Jincheng, led his troops to persuade him, and joined forces with Ma Teng to attack Li He. The courtiers Zhong Shao, Ma Yu and Liu Fan wanted to kill Li Yu and others, so they secretly contacted Ma Teng and wanted to be an insider. However, because of the disclosure of the incident, they had to flee to Huaili. Li's envoys fan Hou, Guo Si and his nephew Li Li attacked. Ma Teng and Han were defeated and returned to Liangzhou. Li's troops attacked Huaili again, and Zhongshao and others were killed.

In the second year of Xingping (195), Ma Teng declared that the army's supplies were insufficient, so he asked to go to Chiyang, where he led the army to reform and settle in Changping antou. At that time, Guanzhong was still under the separatist regime of a dozen warlords, among which Ma Teng and Han Sui were the most powerful. In the fourth year of Jian'an (199), Cao Cao adopted Xun Yu's suggestion and sent Zhong Yao to act as a servant to supervise the army in Guanzhong. When Zhong Yao arrived in Chang'an, he wrote to Ma Teng and Han Sui, stating their interests. So Ma Teng and Han Sui were willing to submit and sent their sons as hostages.
Help Cao break yuan
In the seventh year of Jian'an (202), Yuan Shao died of illness. His son yuan Shangyu united with Ma Teng and Han Sui, and Ma Teng pretended to agree to him. Later, Cao Cao sent Zhong Yao to fight Guo Yuan, the governor of Hedong, and Nan Danyu, the Hun, in Pingyang. Under the persuasion of Cao Cao's envoys, such as Zhang Ji and Fu Gan, Ma Teng decided to help Cao Jun, and sent his son Ma Chao to lead more than ten thousand people to help Zhong you, defeating Guo Yuanjun. Pang De, Ma Chao's subordinate, personally killed Guo Yuan in the battlefield. Cao Cao worshipped Ma Teng as a general in the South and Han Sui as a general in the West.
When Ma Teng was in Sanfu, he defended Hukou in the north and Baiqi in the East. He gave preferential treatment to scholars, recommended talents, and showed compassion for the people. He was loved by Sanfu people.
In the 10th year of Jian'an (205), Cao Cao sent Zhang Ji to recruit Ma Teng and others, defeated Gao Gan and Zhang Shengjun, and killed the rebellious Zhang Yan and Wei Gu.
He was killed in Korea
Before that, Ma Teng and Han Sui became enemies because of the conflict between the trilogy. Han Sui killed Ma Teng's wife, and they fought for years.
In 208, Cao Cao sent Zhong Yao and Wei Duan to persuade him to make peace. He took Ma Teng as the former general and settled in Huaili instead. During the holiday, he was granted the Marquis of Huaili. In the same year, Zhang Ji persuaded Ma Teng to give up his troops and become an official in the DPRK. Ma Teng hesitated for a time, but under pressure, he finally agreed to come to Yecheng. Cao Cao appointed Ma Teng as Wei Wei and his son Ma Chao as Pian general. He took the place of Ma Teng to lead the army and stationed in the same place. He also appointed his son Ma Xiu as Feng Che Du Wei and Ma tie as Qi Du Wei. He moved to Yecheng with the rest of his family members.
In March of the 16th year of Jian'an (211), Ma Chao, Han Sui and other ten troops, known as 100000, stationed in Tongguan to resist Cao Cao who wanted to attack Hanzhong. In September of the same year, they were defeated by Cao Cao.
In the first month of the 17th year of Jian'an (212), Ma Chao attacked Longshang and besieged Liangzhou governor Weikang. In May of the same year, Ma Teng was killed and destroyed.

In the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Ma Teng is written as a loyal minister to the Han Dynasty. When Dong Zhuo was in disorder, Ma Teng was the prefect of Xiliang, and he was one of the 18 princes. After the defeat of Dong Zhuo, the rest of the political parties Li Yi and Guo Si were in power. Ma Teng was granted the imperial edict and was appointed the general of the expedition to the West. He and Han then attacked Li Yi and Guo Si. Because of the lack of food, they were defeated and returned to Xiliang. After Cao Cao moved Emperor Xian of Han Dynasty to Xudu, Ma Teng entered the court and took part in Liu Bei's and Dong Cheng's plan to assassinate Cao Cao, who was in power, and fled back to Liangzhou.
