Hu Jia
Hu Jia, born in Wuhan, Hubei Province on January 10, 1983, is a former Chinese diver, world champion and Olympic champion.
Hu Jia began to learn diving at the age of 5. He joined the Guangdong team in 1994 and was selected into the national team in November 1999. In August 2000, he won the silver medal of double and single 10m platform in Sydney Olympic Games; in 2002, he won the double champion of men's 10m platform in national diving championship; in August 2004, he won the men's 10m platform champion in Athens Olympic Games.
In January 2020, he was elected vice president of China Diving Association.
Early experience
When Hu Jia was 5 and a half years old, he was selected by the coach of Wuhan team to learn diving. In 1993, he began diving training in Shantou diving school. The coach was Chen Tianyuan. In 1994, he joined the Guangdong team and was coached by Tan Liangde and Li Qing. In the same year, he took part in the diving competition of the 9th Guangdong Provincial Games and won the champion of 1-meter springboard and platform in the junior group, becoming Hu Jia's first champion.
In 1997, when Hu Jia was training, he bumped into a 10 meter platform and was in a coma for 12 hours. He was bleeding and had nine stitches on the wound. The next day, he woke up and asked the coach when to test. As a result, he defeated other teammates and won the qualification to participate in the National Games, ranking fourth.
In 1998, Hu Jia was selected into the national team, and the coach was Zhong Shaozhen. He was selected for the national team in November 1999.
At the beginning, Hu Jia's events were miscellaneous, involving springboard and platform. It was not until 1999 that Hu Jia won the double platform championship in the national diving championship that his main event was decided on the double and single platform events.
Sports career
In 2000, Hu Jia won gold medals in many heavyweight domestic competitions, including men's 10m platform champion in fina diving Grand Prix finals and team champion in the Eighth National Games. In August, Hu Jiagang entered the national team because of his teammate Huang Qiang's wrist injury, and he had the chance to participate in the world's top Olympic Games in Sydney for the first time. Hu Jia and Tian Liang won the second place in the men's 10m platform double competition in Sydney Olympic Games with 358.74 points. Later, Hu Jia won the second place in the men's 10m platform single competition with 713.55 points.
In 2001, he took part in the men's double 10m platform in the 9th World Swimming Championships and won the champion; in the same year, he won the second place in the men's 10m platform in the 9th National Games.
In 2002, he took part in the double champion and single runner up of the men's 10m platform in the national diving championship and the men's team champion in the 13th World Cup.
In 2003, he won the third place of men's double 10m platform in the 10th World Swimming Championships.
In 2004, Hu Jia won the men's 10m platform champion in the international diving championship tour Shanghai station and the men's 10m platform runner up in the 14th World Cup diving competition. In the same year, Hu Jia temporarily lowered the difficulty of his whole set of movements by 0.6, and finally won the 10m platform champion with 748.08 points.
2005 fina diving Grand Prix US men's 10m platform double champion; fina diving Grand Prix Canada men's 10m platform runner up; fina diving Grand Prix Zhuhai men's 10m platform single runner up, double champion; swimming world championships men's 10m platform single gold medal, partner Yang Jinghui double silver medal, the same year in the 10th National Games men's 10m platform with 750.15 points won the silver medal Card.
After the 2005 National Games, Hu Jia was examined for severe retinal detachment, and then underwent surgery. In the next two years, Hu Jia was almost in a state of self-cultivation, and after more than a year of hard recovery, he could still return to the platform. In 2007, Hu Jia, who was in poor condition, only won the men's 10 meter platform in Bangkok University Games; in 2008, he won the men's 10 meter platform in Madrid diving Grand Prix.
Finally, in order to keep his eyes, Hu Jia had to announce his retirement shortly after the 2009 National Games.

In 2013, as one of the judges and star coaches of star diving cube, Hu Jia joined hands with several other Olympic champion coaches, more than 30 star athletes, and all staff to donate 1 million yuan to Ya'an earthquake stricken area in Sichuan Province for post disaster reconstruction. On October 18 of the same year, Hu Jia and more than 60 well-known athletes and many caring entrepreneurs participated in the event China athletes education fund annual charity dinner.
Personal activities
On September 12, 2007, Hu Jia, Gao Min, Xiong Ni, Wang Yifu and others attended the "all the way to you" large sports public welfare party and gave gifts to the audience in front of the TV.
On April 18, 2015, Hu Jia took part in the "love running Beijing" 5km race and fired his gun at the Beijing International Sculpture Park, leading nearly 2000 Beijing citizens and runners.
In December 2017, he attended the "2017 fina awards ceremony · welcome dinner".
In June 2018, 28 Olympic champions and world champions, including Hu Jia and Xiao Hailiang, gathered in Wuhan for the fina Diving World Cup, and launched several "public welfare activities" in Jiangcheng.
