Yang Jiang
Yang Jiang (July 17, 1911 - May 25, 2016), whose real name is Yang Jikang, is a native of Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. She is a modern Chinese writer, literary translator, foreign literature researcher and member of the honorary Department of the Chinese Academy of social sciences.
In 1923, he moved to Suzhou with his family and entered Zhenhua women's school. In 1928, he entered Soochow University. In 1932, he graduated from Soochow University. In the same year, he went to Tsinghua University to study and met Qian Zhongshu. From 1935 to 1938, he studied in England and France. In the winter of 1942, he completed his first play "contentment" and released it in Shanghai. In 1944, the comedy "make a real fake" was released in Shanghai. After 1949, he worked in the Institute of literature, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Institute of foreign literature. During the "Cultural Revolution", he was attacked and slandered as "bourgeois academic authority". In July 1970, it was transferred to the May 7th cadre school. In 1978, the Chinese version of Don Quixote was published. In July 1981, he published a collection of essays, six chapters of cadre school. In May 1987, he published the collection of essays "will drink tea". In December 1988, he published the novel bathing. In July 2003, he published a collection of essays, the three of us. In 2007, he published "walking to the edge of life". In August 2014, the novella after a bath was published. At 1:10 on May 25, 2016, he died in Peking Union Medical College Hospital at the age of 105.

He was born in Beijing on July 17, 1911, and his parents were born in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. After the revolution of 1911, he moved to Baochang Road, Shanghai. In 1933, he went to the Research Institute of Tsinghua University to study. In 1934, he won the Tsinghua excellent student award; in the same year, he published the short story Lulu, don't worry! 》。 In 1935, he married Qian Zhongshu in the family hall of Miaotang Lane in Suzhou. In the summer of the same year, he went to Oxford University in England with Qian Zhongshu, and then transferred to Paris University in France for further study.
In 1936, he went to Switzerland with Qian Zhongshu to attend the first World Youth Congress. In 1938, Qian Zhongshu returned home with his one-year-old daughter. After returning home, he served as professor of Foreign Languages Department of Shanghai Sinian women's College of Arts and Sciences and professor of Western Languages Department of Tsinghua University. In the autumn of 1939, he was the principal of Suzhou Zhenhua girls' school (Shanghai school) and a senior English teacher. In 1941, after the Pearl Harbor incident, Zhenhua girls' school (Shanghai school) was closed.
In 1942, he worked as a substitute teacher in Banri Primary School of the Ministry of industry, writing scripts in his spare time. From 1943 to 1945, the dramas such as "contentment", "making a fake come true", "playing in the world" and "wind catkins" were performed in Shanghai one after another. In the autumn of 1946, he was a professor in the Department of foreign languages at the Sinian women's College of Arts and Sciences. In September 1948, he published his translation of English prose works since 1939.
After the victory of the liberation war in 1949, he was appointed to Tsinghua University as a professor, teaching English novels of grade three. In April 1950, he published the English translation of the Spanish masterpiece "little leprosy". In 1952, after the end of the three anti five anti movement, he was transferred to the foreign language group of the Institute of literature; on October 16 of the same year, his family moved to No. 26, Zhongguanyuan, a new dormitory of the new Peking University.
In 1956, the first edition of Jill Blass was published after a major overhaul. In 1957, the research paper on H. Fielding's theory and practice of fiction was published in the second issue of literary review. In 1959, he published a paper on W.M. Thackeray, on vanity fair, which was criticized for its lack of "red line". In 1960, he was a representative of the National People's Congress of the people's Republic of China. On August 14, 1962, he moved to the dormitory of the Institute of Liberal Arts in Ganmian Hutong. In the middle of January 1965, the first translation of Don Quixote was completed.
During the "Cultural Revolution", he was attacked and slandered as "bourgeois academic authority". On August 9, 1966, he was "pulled out" and swept the toilet in the foreign language office. On August 27, 1966, he handed over all the translated versions of Don Quixote and shaved his "Yin Yang head" in the dormitory at night. On April 24, 1967, he was exempted from labor by foreign language. On June 1, 1970, the translation of Don Quixote was returned by Zhang lisuo, the former group leader; on July 12, 1970, it was transferred to the May 7th cadre school. On April 4, 1971, he moved to Minggang "division headquarters" with the cadre school.
In 1972, he began to translate Don Quixote again. In 1973, he returned to Beijing, and on December 23 of the same year, he moved to the little red mansion of Beijing Normal University, and his translation of Don Quixote was suspended. In 1974, he moved to an office at the west end of No.7 building, and continued to translate Don Quixote. On April 5, 1975, the first draft of Don Quixote was translated.
In 1977, he finished the novel big joke. At the end of April, 1978, the first and second translations of Don Quixote were published; from September 8 to 18, she was a woman representative of the fourth national women's Congress; on November 9, she finished the novel jade man. Marriage and love
In the spring of 1932, Yang Jiang was admitted to Tsinghua University and met Qian Zhongshu. The first time we met, Qian Zhongshu said, "I'm not engaged." "I don't have a boyfriend, either." Yang Jiang replied. Since then, Yang Jiang and Qian Zhongshu began to fall in love. In 1933, he and Qian Zhongshu held a wedding in a restaurant in Suzhou. In 1935, Yang Jiang and Qian Zhongshu got married and soon went abroad to study together. No matter in Oxford or Paris, they left their footprints of love and affection.
At 7:38 on December 19, 1998, Qian Zhongshu died of illness at the age of 88.
