Character evaluation
Li Hongqi takes an independent image road that pays attention to personal experience, making independent films or art films at a low cost, hovering between mainstream discourse and marginal discourse, and making image exploration and main breakthrough in his private space. His films show a clear stand of intellectuals, concern and cry for people on the edge of society, and express the social significance of independent films. His films are strongly experimental, and are dedicated to the real expression of individual consciousness, almost appearing as a rebellious subject. On the whole, his films still give people a sense of original ecology, which is slightly rough in shooting skills or pictures, but it is very real. In fact, his films are in pursuit of a state, which can be called "state films" (review of Journal of Beijing Film Academy).
