Li Yan, a native of Ruian, Zhejiang Province, holds a master's degree in fine arts of China Academy of fine arts. He is now the dean of the school of calligraphy, painting and seal cutting of Xiling Seal engraver's society, a member of Xiling Seal engraver's society, a member of China Calligrapher's Association, a director of Zhejiang Calligrapher's Association, a secretary general of Zhejiang women's Calligrapher's Association, a researcher of Hangzhou calligraphy court, and a member of Zhejiang Calligrapher's society.
