Li Yunbo (1892-1963), also known as Shilin, is Lingren in Shuijiao, Ninghai County. At the age of 11, he began to learn root carving. After he became a teacher in Ninghai civilian Art Institute, he taught root carving. Later, he set up his own carving shop and closed down several times due to the war. During the Anti Japanese War, he worked as a sculptor in Shanghai and Ningbo. In 1950, he entered Shanghai qunlian culture and education model factory (later renamed Shanghai specimen model factory) to design models and participated in the layout of Shanghai Hall of the Great Hall of the people in Beijing. He retired to his hometown in 1962. The four generations of Li family were engaged in the art of root carving. Most of the materials were taken from the roots of Rhododendron, Castanopsis fargesii, oak and so on. They were shaped according to the materials, focusing on the similarity of spirit, but rarely carved. He has created nearly 1000 pieces of birds, animals, landscapes, flowers and birds, figures and benches, several utensils, flower pot racks and other works, and has participated in national exhibitions and expositions for many times. In 1928, he won the first prize of West Lake Expo, in 1935, he won the first prize of Zhejiang Province specialty exhibition, Zhejiang Jiangxi specialty exhibition and national handicraft. Since the founding of the people's Republic of China, it has been exhibited in many arts and crafts exhibitions in Shanghai and East China. His masterpieces include tie Guai Li and Wu GUI, which are kept in Ningbo Institute of Arts and crafts. Some of his works spread to Europe and Southeast Asia.
