He graduated from Nanjing University of Pharmacy (now China Pharmaceutical University) in July 1970 and worked as a pharmacist in Weining pharmaceutical factory of Guizhou Province. Mainly engaged in the study of pharmacokinetics and safety evaluation of traditional Chinese medicine. From 1981 to 1994, he went to Germany to study the clinical pharmacology and pharmacokinetics in the medical school of Heidelberg University and Frankfurt University.
