Zhao ziyue (June 1, 1909 - March 25, 1997), a Chinese actor, was born in Guxian County, Shanxi Province. He studied in Hangzhou National Art College in 1932, and was a teacher of music and fine arts in primary and secondary schools. Since 1937, he has successively served as the working group of Anze County National Salvation League, Taihang District Committee of the Communist Party of China, Taihang Mountain Opera Troupe, Taihang military pioneer Opera Troupe and military Peking Opera Troupe. In 1949, he served as the vice chairman of Shanxi provincial Drama Association. Later, he became famous for playing Kang Tiancheng, a farmer, in the film "heroes of Luliang". He was transferred to Beijing Film Studio as an actor. Later, he served as the deputy head and head of the actor troupe. He shot "biography of new heroes", "red flag", "storm", "icing on the cake", "after the truce", "little erhei's marriage", "good fortune" and "charming" More than 40 films, including the band, the aunts and mothers of Huangtupo. In 2005, he was selected as one of the "100 outstanding actors of Chinese film in the past 100 years" by China Film Performing Arts Association.

Acting experience
Zhao ziyue was born on July 31, 1909 (June 15 of the lunar calendar) in an ordinary family in Chengguan village, Chengguan Town, Guxian County, Shanxi Province. My grandfather was a painter. His father graduated from the law department of Peking University of China, worked as a Chinese teacher under Yan Xishan's Ministry, and was promoted to the county magistrate of Huairen County in Shanxi Province in 1931.
Zhao ziyue lost his mother and was raised by his grandparents. Under the influence of his grandfather, he was fond of painting and music since childhood, especially the folk singing activities during the Spring Festival in rural areas and the accompaniment of drum music during weddings and funerals. When he was 12 or 3 years old, he learned to play flute, Banhu and Sanxian. Once, his father went to a respectable family in a long robe and mandarin jacket to celebrate his new year. He found Zhao ziyue standing in the team of drummers at the door. He felt disgraceful. When he got home, he gave him a good lesson.
After finishing high school in his hometown, he was admitted to Shanxi provincial first normal school in 1924. The next year, the May 30th massacre took place in Shanghai. Taiyuan students held a demonstration. Zhao ziyue actively participated in the fund-raising performance team. During this period, he met many progressive students and was quickly absorbed into the student progress organization "Jinshe". In this organization, he learned "Internationale" and some revolutionary principles. In 1926, he joined the Communist Youth League. In 1927, Chiang Kai Shek launched the "April 12" counter revolutionary coup, and brutally massacred the Communists. Yan Xishan also carried out white terror in Shanxi Province, drove the armed forces and police into the school, carried out the school cleaning movement, and traced the Communists. When the organization was destroyed, Zhao ziyue had to leave school temporarily. After the white terror, he returned to school and finished painting in art and science. After graduation, he was admitted to Hangzhou "Art College". In 1932, his father was removed from his post. He had no financial security to study abroad, so he had to return to Taiyuan to work as a music teacher in women's normal school. In 1934, introduced by a friend, he worked as a music teacher in Shijiazhuang Zhengding Taiyuan railway rotary primary school. At this time, Japan invaded the three eastern provinces of China, and the Northeast army retreated to the pass. There was a regiment stationed in Shijiazhuang, where Zhao ziyue often went to teach soldiers to sing Anti Japanese songs. Later, Zhengda railway workers organized an amateur singing troupe of 60 or 70 people. Zhao ziyue served as the guide of the troupe. He taught the workers to sing Anti Japanese songs every night, and took them to the streets to March, publicize and make speeches. So far, a photo of Zhao ziyue speaking to the masses in the street at that time is still preserved in the album. This is the scene of the KMT news photography agency shooting in the street at that time. After liberation, the comrades of Xinying found this shot in the documentary film and specially developed and printed one for him. This photo can vividly reflect Zhao ziyue's revolutionary enthusiasm and mental outlook in his youth. At that time, he also carried out fund-raising activities with everyone and sent a consolation group to the front line to support the Suidong Anti Japanese war. In these activities, he got in touch with the underground party in Shijiazhuang and was absorbed as a member of the Communist Party of China in December 1936. After the July 7th incident. He went to Taihang mountain together with many comrades of the underground party in Shijiazhuang and worked as an official in the Propaganda Department of the Taihang district Party committee. He gave full play to his painting skills and carried out colorful publicity activities. At the same time, he also composed lyrics and composed music to teach people to sing revolutionary songs. Since then, leaders, soldiers and the masses have affectionately called him "Mr. Zhao". Later, he went to the Taihang district party school to study for a period of time, composed lyrics for the headmaster Lai Ruoyu, and created the Taihang district Party School Anthem "descendants of Lenin", which everyone can sing and is very popular. In 1940, he was promoted to Taihang Mountain troupe as an art director. On the one hand, he took part in drama activities, and on the other hand, he wrote folk tunes to publicize the masses in accordance with the revolutionary situation at that time. Since most of the soldiers in the Taihang Mountain army were from Shanxi and liked to watch Shanxi Bangzi, he collected talents from all over the country and set up a Jin opera team in the Taihang Mountain troupe. He himself also plays the role of a clown in such dramas as Han Yu Niang and killing a fisherman. In the battle of opening up a new area, he created the drama "the Laughing Man", and also created the script "an axe" with the theme of self-help in production. After the performance of these plays, they played a very good role in propaganda.
Once, the military region "pioneer theater" borrowed Zhao ziyue to play a role in the Soviet Union's "front line". After that, he stayed in the theater as an assistant. In this troupe, he took part in various performances, played Yang Bailao in the opera white haired girl, and took part in the Shangdang campaign and the pinghan campaign. During the pinghan campaign, when he was working in the front prisoner's shelter, he found some people with literary and artistic talents, so he organized these people to rehearse programs and hold performances. Later, he took these people back to the military region to set up a Peking Opera Troupe and was appointed head of the troupe. During the national liberation, he brought the Beijing Opera Troupe into Taiyuan. In 1949, as a representative of Peking Opera, he participated in the first National Congress of literary and art circles, and was elected as the assistant director of all China Federation of literary and art circles.
After the founding of new China, Zhao ziyue was appointed deputy director of Shanxi Drama Association. At this time, the Beijing Film Studio "Luliang hero biography" production team went to Shanxi Luliang Mountain area to shoot location, Zhao ziyue was responsible for the reception work. Director Lu Ban used him to play farmer Kang Tiancheng in the film, which became the beginning of his career as a film actor.
After the completion of the production of the biography of the heroes of Luliang, Shi Dongshan invited Zhao ziyue to play the guerrilla leader black Lao Cai in his director's biography of the heroes of the new children. Unlike the leading image of the party in some films at that time, Zhao ziyue's portrayal of black laocai was artificially painted with a layer of superhuman color. During the 16 years from 1949 to the "Cultural Revolution", he played roles in 25 films.
