Born in Vienna of the Austro Hungarian Empire, Joe may is a businessman, a light opera director and one of the founders of German films.

Joe may

He began directing films in 1911 and later set up his own production company. He helped famous German director Franz Langer start his career and hired Franz Langer as a screenwriter in his early films. After his motherland was occupied by the Nazis, Joe may fled to the United States, and later directed a series of wonderful action films for universal, but he was unable to enter the ranks of A-level directors and died in Hollywood on April 29, 1954.
