Early experience
Weng Hong's parents both worked in Tsinghua University, and his grandfather was a designer of Hanyang ordnance factory in the late Qing Dynasty. Later, the whole family moved to Hong Kong. Weng Hong was the only child born in Hong Kong, and his parents had been strict with him since childhood.
Weng Hong began to learn dance in Beijing at the age of 13. In 1982, at the age of 14, he decided to become a ballet dancer. At the age of 19, Weng Hong and another classmate founded an advertising production company focusing on dance choreography.
