Feng Kean
Feng Kean (1950-march 2, 2016), born in Guangdong, is a Hong Kong actor. He has participated in such films as Lin Shirong, younger martial brother, master long and so on.
In the early morning of March 2, 2016, Feng Kean died of esophageal cancer at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Hong Kong, aged 65.
Personal experience
Feng Kean has been in the film industry with his father since he was a child. He has played many roles as a child star in the 1950s and 1960s. In the 1960s and 1970s, he joined Liu Jialiang's team and became a martial arts teacher. He took part in kung fu films by Zhang Che, Liu Jialiang and others, and showed his talents in martial arts. At the end of 1970s, he joined the family class as an actor and martial arts director. Feng Kean's evil face, coupled with his innate acting skills, makes him a good actor. Because of his outstanding performance in backhand, he was welcomed by all major action film directors. In the 1980s and 1990s, he was busy in Jackie Chan's and Hong Jinbao's films, but also in Tsui Hark's, Yuan Heping's and John Woo's films. In 1995, after shooting ghost bus, he faded out of the film and television industry. After 2002, he occasionally played a supporting role in some films and TV plays. For example: the lack of land in Kung Fu, uncle Tang in Duo Shuai and so on. His latest work is playing master Zheng in IP MAN 2: Legend of the great master. His representative works include: Mr. Zan and Qian Qianhua, Hongquan boy, no move to win, no move to win, etc.
According to the behind the scenes sidelights of Hong Jinbao's interview with Star Media on monk Sande and Chung Mi Liu,
Feng Kean was the director of Hong Jinbao
. The following is the content of the interview:
When I decided to shoot monk Sande and Chung Mi Liu, the Chinese always liked the story of historical heroes. A Kung Fu hero looks like the story of ten tigers in Guangdong. We've tried a story of that kind, and we've used this story to get on the screen.
Feng Kean is like my godfather. I have been with him for many years and made many films. Before I was assistant director for him, oh, assistant action director, martial arts director. Later, my first time as an action director was in a movie directed by him. I was an action director, for the first time. Many years later, I asked him, do you think I can be a director. He said, "why not? If you want to do it, I can help you. I'll write the script for you." I said, "really? Good He said, "then tell me what kind of story you like?" I told him what I thought. Then he wrote a script for me.
Hong Kong people always like to hear stories about heroes. There is a story about Guangdong. There is a book called "ten tigers in Guangdong". It is very popular in the history of Guangdong. We think "what movie should we choose..." We chose that movie. That's the type of movie people are interested in. So I picked this material from the comic book.
The character is about a young man whose parents were killed. He was very sad. A monk saw him and took him back to Shaolin Temple. He studied martial arts because he wanted to go back for revenge. He got a lot of glory, when he was going to leave Shaolin Temple, he had to do some tests and then go out like me. I was very lucky to be able to make a movie. The first movie was like a test. It turned out to be OK.
We chose Feng Ke'an because we worked together in his films. Feng Ke'an directed many films at that time, all of which were about Kung Fu. At that time, I was just a martial arts instructor. We have known each other for a long time. Because I know him, I know what action I need, I think he can do it, he is omnipotent, so I asked him to play a role. He did a good job.
Personal life
His father, Feng Feng, was a famous Cantonese Opera student in the 1930s and 1940s. Later, he entered the film industry and became a leading actor and director. He also opened a film company. Feng Feng was the director of Xi Lu Xiang, which brought Bruce Lee to the fore.
My sister Feng Subo and brother Feng Jilong are both famous TV producers. My sister Feng Baobao is a talented child star and famous actor in the 1950s and 1960s in Hong Kong.
