Wang Yu
Wang Yu, born in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province on August 18, 1991, is a Chinese male track and field athlete.
At the age of 16, Wang Yu was selected by Ma John's specialty class of Tsinghua high school. In 2013, in the IAAF challenge, Wang Yu won the championship with 2.33 meters. In September 2017, in the men's high jump final of the National Games, Wang Yu successfully defended his title with a score of 2.27 meters. In October 2017, Wang Yu was named the "best athlete" of Beijing sports delegation in the 13th National Games. On March 24, 2018, Wang Yu won the men's high jump championship in the finals of the 2018 National Indoor Track and field championship. On May 18, 2019, Wang Yu won the gold medal of men's high jump in the 2019 IAAF Diamond League in Shanghai.
Early experience
In the third grade test, Wang Yu, who only trained as an amateur under the guidance of his parents, jumped 1.90 meters, which made Wang Yu quickly fall in love with Ma John's special class of Tsinghua high school.
Sports experience
On March 6, 2010, Wang Yu won the national indoor track and field championship in Beijing with a score of 2.24 meters. On April 16, Wang Yu won the National Youth Track and field championship with a result of 2.15 meters.
On August 13, 2011, Wang Yu was the flag bearer of the opening ceremony of the Chinese delegation to the 26th Universiade in Shenzhen. On August 19, Wang Yu won the gold medal in Nanchang Station of the national track and field championship with a score of 2.28 meters.
On May 30, 2012, in the men's high jump competition of the 50th Capital University track and field games, Wang Yu won the championship with a score of 2.27 meters. On September 17, in the track and field competition of the National University Games, Wang Yu won the championship by 2.27 meters.
On May 21, 2013, in the Beijing bird's nest IAAF challenge, Wang Yu won the men's high jump champion with his best result of 2.33 meters. On July 9, Wang Yu won the second place in the men's high jump with a score of 2.31 meters at the World University Games in Kazan, Russia. On September 10, Wang Yu won the men's high jump champion with 2.29 meters in the 12th National Games of the people's Republic of China.
On April 24, 2014, Wang Yu won the championship in the 2014 China elite jumping competition with a score of 2.28 meters. On May 21, Wang Yu won the fourth place in the men's high jump with a score of 2.25 meters in the world challenge Beijing station. On July 11, in the finals of the national track and field Grand Prix, Wang Yu won the championship with a score of 2.28 meters.
On March 15, 2015, in the national track and field championship, Wang Yu won the championship of men's high jump with a score of 2.24 meters. Wang Yu won the second place in the men's high jump with 2.31 meters in the Beijing bird's nest IAAF challenge on May 20, and reached the Olympic standard in the event. On August 28, Wang Yu failed to jump the height of 2.29 meters in the 2015 Beijing World Track and Field Championships and missed the final.
On May 8, 2016, at the Kawasaki station of IAAF challenge in Japan, Wang Yu returned to 2 meters 33 personal best after three years of precipitation and won the second place. On May 14, in the 2016 IAAF Diamond League Shanghai leg, Wang Yu won the championship with a score of 2.28 meters. On August 15, in the high jump competition of Rio Olympic Games, Wang Yu's results were all 2.22 meters, which failed to reach the pass line and was not qualified for promotion.
On June 25, 2017, in the finals of the 2017 national track and field championship and Grand Prix, Wang Yu won the championship with a score of 2.24 meters. On July 2, in the 2017 China Japan South Korea track and field competition, Wang Yu won the men's high jump champion with an excellent result of 2.30 meters. On September 4, 2017, in the track and field competition of the 13th National Games at Tianjin Olympic Center Stadium, Wang Yu won the men's high jump champion with a score of 2.27 meters.
On February 6, 2018, in the international indoor high jump competition of Banska bistrica in Slovakia, Wang Yu won the championship with a score of 2.31 meters, setting a new personal best. On March 24, in the men's high jump final of the 2018 National Indoor Track and field championship, Wang Yu won the championship with the result of 2.28 meters. On May 20, in Osaka Gold Grand Prix of IAAF World Challenge series, Wang Yu won the second place of men's high jump with 2.30 meters. On July 15, Wang Yu won the second place in the men's high jump with a score of 2.27 meters in the first track and field world cup in London, England. On July 20, in the men's high jump competition of 2018 IAAF Diamond League in Monaco, Wang Yu won the second place with a score of 2.30 meters. On August 27, Wang Yu won the championship in the men's high jump final of the Asian Games in Jakarta with a result of 2.30 meters.
On January 27, 2019, Wang Yu won the 2.30 m high jump commemorative match of Milani hobnellowi in hustopeche, Czech Republic. On February 20, Wang Yu broke the National Indoor record of men's high jump with 2.34 meters and won the second place. On May 21, Wang Yu won the gold medal of men's high jump with 2.31 meters in the Nanjing leg of the 2019 IAAF world challenge. On August 3, Wang Yu won the second place of men's high jump in the trials of the 2019 world track and Field Championships. On August 19, Wang Yu won the third place in the men's high jump with 2.23 meters in the 2019 IAAF Diamond League Birmingham leg. On October 4, in the men's high jump final of the 2019 IAAF World Track and Field Championships in Doha, Qatar, Wang Yu won the 10th place with a score of 2.24 meters.
On August 22, 2020, the 2020 China Track and field street tour Beijing station was held in Wukesong, Beijing. Nine men's high jumpers took part in the competition, and Wang Yu won the third place. On September 16, in the national track and field championship, Wang Yu ranked second with 2.20 meters.
On March 18, 2021, in the 2021 indoor track and field Invitational Competition (North China), Wang Yu won the men's high jump champion with a score of 2.28 meters.
Personal life
In 2009, Wang Yu was invited to participate in a program of "make progress every day" because he won the championship of two Chinese games.
In March 2010, Wang Yu obtained the recommendation qualification of sports specialty students of Tsinghua University and became a quasi Tsinghua university student. But he insisted on taking part in the college entrance examination, and finally admitted to Tsinghua University.
