Take part in the war with illness
At dawn on July 16, 1953, the Kuomintang troops stationed along the coast of Fujian mobilized the army, sea and air forces to invade Dongshan Island on a large scale. At that time, Huang Feilong was recuperating from foot pain and cold fever. His comrades in arms asked him to transfer his company. However, when Huang Feilong learned the news that the enemy was going to invade, he ignited hatred and anger in his chest and said to himself, "the opportunity to kill the enemy is here!" Regardless of foot pain and cold fever, he insisted on taking part in the battle: "I am a member of the Youth League, I can't leave the position!" After he was allowed to take part in the battle, he quickly reorganized, led the heavy machine gun class soldiers with the squad leader into the Shipu position in front of Zhangtang Township, cooperated with a row of enemies to block the invasion, so as to delay the enemy's advance and make our rear troops well prepared for the battle.
Tenacious resistance
At about 5:30 on July 16, the enemy's vanguard troops, about a battalion of troops, pounced on the Shipu position. When the enemy entered the fire circle of Huang Feilong's heavy machine gun, he held fast to his plate and fired fiercely. Huang Feilong and his comrades fought against the enemy's battalions and attacked again and again. They persisted for five hours and successfully completed the task. Later, Zeng Yimao, Huang Feilong's comrade in arms, and other five soldiers were ordered to cover the whole platoon's transfer to the main position. In order to effectively attack the enemy, Huang Feilong took a heavy machine gun to sneak into the enemy's flank and kill the enemy in large quantities. As his position was a great threat to the enemy, the enemy concentrated their forces on him.
cover one's comrades-in-arms
In the battle, Huang Feilong was shot in the chest and still insisted on shooting tenaciously, effectively protecting the whole platoon from safely transferring to the main position. Comrades in arms came to see him, he firmly said: "I can't, you quickly move to the main position, I'll cover you!" And forced his comrades to obey orders to move. After his comrades in arms moved, Huang Feilong still held his position tenaciously to attract the enemy, until he ran out of ammunition and smashed the machine gun. Finally, he jumped to the enemy group with two grenades in his arms and died with the encircled enemy. The East China military region recognized Huang Feilong as a fighting hero in East China, and the people's Government of Fujian Province awarded Huang Feilong as a revolutionary martyr.
