Male, born in 1953 in Chengdu, Sichuan. In 2002, the successful salvaging of the "5.7" air crash black box in Dalian, Liaoning Province, is the president of laurel industries (the world's largest geophysical instrument company integrating geophysical instrument development and sales), and the president of Beijing laurel Film Co., Ltd.
He graduated from East China Institute of Geology (now East China University of Technology) in 1982 and obtained an MBA from Wake Forest University in 1989. In 1991, he founded laurel industries, which has achieved great commercial success in the fields of Earth Science and marine science and technology.
In 2001 and 2005, Fang Li set up "Fang Li scholarship" in Donghua University of technology and China University of Geosciences respectively, aiming to reward the undergraduates who study hard, innovate and have excellent character and learning in order to revitalize the cause of geophysics. He will issue a scholarship every year to talk with the winners about their life experiences and feelings.
