Character evaluation
Ding Yinnan doesn't stick to telling stories, but starts from the characters' personalities to depict the inner waves of great people (Jinzhong evening news review). He is one of the representatives of the fourth generation of film directors in China, and has the reputation of "great biographical film director". His speech is humorous, and he is a "good old man" (CCTV online review). He has a strong national spirit complex and poetic beauty in the film. Ding Yinnan never forgets the expression of truth, goodness and beauty in his pursuit of art, no matter his famous work Xiaoxiao in spring rain, Sun Yat Sen, Zhou Enlai, Deng Xiaoping, Lu Xun and Qigong. The expression of characters in Ding Yinnan's biographical films depends on the deep feeling and understanding of the characters, the discovery of the cultural, symbolic and existential significance of the characters, and the departure from the habitual thinking pattern and the "knowledge barrier" in understanding and studying the characters (Nanfang Daily News Review).
