Character evaluation
Zhang Yang is good at narrating and expressing the theme of people's family life in movies (Sina entertainment review).
In his films, he shows the changes of Chinese society and records the mental journey of a generation (International online review).
His films bring the audience a direct head up feeling with the civilian cultural vision, thus building a real civilian culture of Chinese social life. The narrative angle of the work is ordinary and small, but it just captures the angle with artistic expression power in daily life and can reflect the breath of life. The characters are mainly set up by ordinary citizens, far away from the earth shaking heroes, and different from the over marginalized images of low-level characters, which create a group of small characters with distinctive character and full image. On the whole, his works are steady and not appropriate sensitive, which highly generalizes the cultural perspective of civilians (review of Journal of Chengdu University).
