Research direction
The research in our laboratory is divided into two parts
1、 The relationship between structure and function of important biological macromolecules (soluble / membrane proteins and nucleic acids) in the field of immunology and neurobiology. Cell surface receptors act as antennas to sense and respond to extracellular signals. We studied the relationship between the structure and function of receptor / ligand complexes involved in important cell signal transduction. Our research will be used to answer the following questions: how are ligands recognized by corresponding receptors (such as GPCRs) on the cell surface? How is their specificity / selectivity realized? How does the conformation of the receptor change after binding to the ligand? How does the change of receptor conformation activate or inhibit intracellular signal pathway? How do regulatory proteins regulate the function of receptors? In addition, we also studied the relationship between the structure and function of important intracellular proteins (complexes) involved in immune and neural signal transduction.
2、 Research on new genes and signaling pathways activated by innate immune system, signal molecules and signal transduction mechanisms of differentiation and activity regulation of immune cells (such as macrophages), and activation of inflammatory body.
In addition to the above basic research on structural biology and signaling pathways, we also analyze the structure of soluble / membrane proteins (complexes) which play a key role in immune and neurodegenerative diseases, and use these structural information to rationally design small molecule drugs to treat the above diseases. The research results were published in cellhost & microbe (if = 13.728) and natural structural & Molecular Biology (if = 13.685).
