Fang Peilin

Fang Peilin (1908-1948) joined Shanghai new film company as an actor and artist in 1928. He once starred in hero of father and son. After 1933, he worked in Lianhua, Yihua and other film companies as an artist in the movies of "gadgets", "yuguangqu", "golden age", "escape", "the beginning of man".

He has been a director since 1936. His first film, avatar girl, is regarded as the representative work of "soft film" and has been severely criticized by progressive public opinion.

In 1938, he was the director of Xinhua film company, shooting "Thunderstorm", "Wu Zetian", "Pearl Tower" and other films. Wu Zetian, written by Ke Ling, expresses patriotism with historical themes. After 1942, he served as the director of China United Film Co., Ltd. and China United Film Co., Ltd., directing such films as "a thousand colors" and "Phoenix in the air". After the victory of the Anti Japanese War, he directed films such as "Yingfei world", "masked girl", "Qingqing riverside grass" and "meet again" in Cathay film company and No.1 and No.2 factories of CLP. He is good at making song and dance films, especially grass by the green river.

In 1947, he went to Hong Kong as director of the Greater China film company. After shooting "the warbler outside the flower" and "the song of the singing girl", he died in a plane crash.
