Li Minghui
Li Minghui (1909.06-2003.12.09), an early Chinese singer and film star. Her father is Li Jinhui, a famous composer in the 1920s and the organizer of Mingyue song and dance troupe. Growing up in Shanghai, she was good at singing and dancing since childhood. As a child, she starred in operas "grape Fairy" and "poor autumn fragrance", which was very sensational.
Profile
In 1925, she was transferred from singing to film. At first, she played a supporting role in "can't bear to look back" of China film company. She played an innocent girl, so she got the nickname of "little sister". Then she played a supporting role in "a beautiful moon (1925)".
In 1925, she entered "Greater China" and filmed "war achievements". In the same year, "Greater China" and "lily" two film companies merged to become greater China Lily film company. Li Minghui transferred to the company and began to play the leading role. From 1925 to 1928, she starred in eight or nine films, including small factory owner, transparent Shanghai, poor autumn fragrance, beauty trick (up and down), sweetheart and hidden flowers (before and after). In 1927, he recorded China's first pop record "maomaoyu" in EMI company. In 1929, she left the film world to perform in Nanyang with Mingyue song and dance troupe. In 1933, she returned to the film world and joined Tianyi film company. She starred in pursuit, which was a success. Her performance was fresh, bright and simple, which was very popular with the audience. Later, she turned to Yihua. In 1934, she starred in Shi Dongshan's Woman (1934), Yang Hansheng's Elegy of life in 1935, and Ouyang Yuqian's Qingming season in 1936. In the film, she played Chunlan, a weak woman oppressed by feudal forces. She made the characters vivid and moving, which made people cry. After "Qingming season", she also shot Xia Yan's "lucky money". In 1937, she married Lu Zhongen, an athlete. After her marriage, she made a movie "Phoenix courtship" in "Yihua". Since then, she has stopped filming and set up a nursery in Shanghai.
Later, Lu Zhongen left the football world and went to Hong Kong to do business. Unfortunately, he suffered from liver cancer and died of invalid treatment. She took back her husband's ashes with great grief. In 1971, the State Council appointed him as the life Secretary of Zhang Shizhao, director of the Central Museum of culture and history. Later, Mr. Zhang died in Hong Kong. In 1973, she went to Hong Kong to pick up Mr. Zhang's ashes.
After retiring, Li Minghui lived in Beijing with his son Lu Zhendong. He lived a poor life and died in a nursing home in Shanghai on December 9, 2003. He appeared in the CCTV documentary "singing for 100 years".
Two years after Li Minghui's death, his son Lu Zhendong also died of illness. Lu Zhendong had a short marriage, but did not remarry and had no children.
Li Minghui, her husband and son are now buried in the Tianguo cemetery in Qingpu, Shanghai. The three members of the family finally reunited a hundred years later.
Character evaluation
After 1920s, most famous beauties were in Shanghai, which made Shanghai the most amorous and fragrant city in China from 1920s to 1940s.
