Lu Jie (1894-1967), born in Jiading, Jiangsu Province (now Jiading, Shanghai), was a former consultant of Shanghai Film Bureau.
Basic introduction
Lu Jie did not finish middle school when she was young because of her poor family.
In 1910, he went to Shanghai as an apprentice, and then to Singapore to make a living. He studies hard and studies English by himself. In December of 1921, Zhang Kenyu returned to Shanghai as the first film editor of China Youth magazine.
Lu Jie is responsible for translation and editing. He has translated and introduced a lot of foreign film knowledge to readers, and created and unified a number of film terms, such as "director", "Star" and "film skills". Later, the title of "director" was first printed on the title of the film "heart" written by him and directed by Gu Kenfu and Chen Shouyin.
Main achievements
In September 1923, he set up a "commercial agency" to deal with the advertising business for various film factories. Under the name of "commercial agency", he compiled and issued a magazine "movie semimonthly", which published more than 20 issues in total. It is also one of the early Chinese film journals.
In February 1924, Lu Jie joined the Greater China Film Company and wrote the screenplay "battle success" after "heart".
The following year, Greater China and Lily company merged to form Greater China Lily film company. The films edited and directed by him or captioned by him include: small factory owner, foreign history of colonization, hidden willows and bright flowers, etc.
Through his creative practice, he laid the foundation for becoming an excellent producer in the 1930s.
At the beginning of 1931, he became the manager of the second factory of Lianhua film company. Through his planning, he successively produced such excellent films as "going to the national calamity", "trinkets", "yuguangqu" and "road". During the period when Shanghai became an "isolated island", he took charge of the administration and personnel arrangement of three film companies, namely, Hezhong, Chunming and Dacheng.
In October 1946, Wenhua film company was established, and Lu Jie served as the managing director and factory director.
He took a series of practical, capable and effective measures in management and scheduling. At that time, there were only 40 basic actors and workers in Wenhua, but he was able to maintain balanced production. He made four films every year, which shows his talent in production and management.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, he successively served as director of the photography studio of the joint venture, consultant of the Shanghai film production company and consultant of the Shanghai Film Bureau, providing a lot of useful experience for the establishment of rules and regulations in the production of people's films. He also selflessly dedicated his film materials collected for many years to the country.
