Brilliant achievements
At the age of 19, Feng Kai participated in the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics and won the bronze medal in the men's 5000 meter relay with his teammates. Although he also participated in the 500m and 1000m competitions, the results were not satisfactory. He was fouled in the quarter finals of 500m and was out of the 1000m preliminary because of falling. But in the world championships in Vienna after the Olympic Games, Feng Kai won the 500m final by 0.2 seconds over Canadian Eric, which is his only world championship title. In 2000, Feng Kai also won the bronze medal of 500 meters in the world championships.
Although his record is not very outstanding, he has set world records twice. In November 1997, in Groningen, the Netherlands, Feng Kai set the world record of 2 minutes 15 seconds 50 in the newly established men's 1500 meter race, shortening the original record by 0.776 seconds. Interestingly, at that time, Feng Kai didn't know that he had broken the world record. Finally, the coach told him. In 1998, in Vienna, Austria, Feng Kai set a new world record of 500 meters in 42.458 seconds.
