Du Peng
Du Peng was born in Raoyang County, Hebei Province in May 1921, formerly known as Wang Runquan. He and Shi Mei (formerly known as Wang Yunhua) and LAN Tianye (formerly known as Wang Runsen) are half brothers and sisters. Both of them participated in the troupe of the motherland before the founding of new China. After that, they were active on their own stage and became famous artists with their own strong points.
Du Peng was born in Raoyang County, Hebei Province in May 1921, formerly known as Wang Runquan. He studied traditional Chinese painting from Li kuchan, a master of traditional Chinese painting in Peking art school. He joined the "North China revolutionary University" Art Troupe in 1949 and joined the Chinese Youth Art Theater in 1954. He has won the "Golden Shield medal for the 50th anniversary of art work" issued by the Ministry of culture, the "Golden Lion Award for the highest lifetime honor" issued by the China drama Research Association and other national awards. In 2007, in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Chinese drama, he accepted the honorary title of "national drama artist with outstanding contribution" personally awarded by General Secretary Hu Jintao.
Du Peng has created many vivid images of stage art and film and television art, such as Tang Shiqing, director of public security in Lao She's famous play "looking at Chang'an in the west"; Kuang Fu in Xia Yan's famous work "under the eaves of Shanghai"; Dr. Langke in Ibsen's famous play "Nala"; Galileo in Brecht's famous play "biography of Galileo"; playing engineer Wang in the film "Shanghai girl"; and playing engineer Wang in the film "Shanghai girl" He played Guan Xiaozhou as a zither player in the Japanese co production of "a chess game never finished"; he played Qian Moyin as a poet in the TV series "four generations together" adapted from Lao She's novel of the same name; when he was 75 years old, he also starred in plays such as "no one is bad", "ice sugar gourd" and "can't find the north". As a director, he has directed the drama clay figurine and the opera Cao Xueqin. He also created many quyi works, such as "four guns", "double nest car", "a pot of rice", "fighting without fighting" and so on.
Du Peng, a famous performing artist and director of China National Theatre, died at his home in Beijing at 9:30 p.m. on November 26, 2010 at the age of 89.
The farewell ceremony for Comrade Du Peng's remains is scheduled to be held at the orchid Hall of Babaoshan cemetery at 10 a.m. on December 2.
