Sun Xin
Sun Xin, born in July 1938 in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, is a condensed matter physicist, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, professor and doctoral supervisor of Physics Department of Fudan University.
After graduating from the Department of physics of Fudan University in 1960, Sun Xin stayed as a teaching assistant and associate professor. He was a visiting scholar at the University of California, San Diego from 1979 to 1983. He was invited to give an academic report at the 14th Statistical Physics Conference in 1980. He was elected president of the 12th International Conference on synthetic metals in 2000 and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2013.
Sun Xin is mainly engaged in statistical physics and condensed matter theory.
Character experience
In July 1938, Sun Xin was born in Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province. In 1955, Sun Xin graduated from Yangzhou middle school in Jiangsu Province and was admitted to the Physics Department of Fudan University. In 1960, after graduating from the Department of physics of Fudan University, Sun Xin stayed as a teaching assistant (1960-1978) and associate professor (1978-1984). In 1979, as a visiting scholar, Sun Xin went to the University of California, San Diego to study (until 1983). In 1980, the International Union of Physics (IUPAP) held the 14th Conference on statistical physics in Canada. Sun Xin was invited by the president of the conference to give an academic report. In 1985, Sun Xin discovered the staggered localized modes in the polymer theory. In 2000, Sun Xin was elected as the 12th president of ICSM in Austria. in December 2013, Sun Xin was elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Main achievements
Achievements in scientific research
Sun Xin combined condensed matter physics with polymer chemistry to study the mechanism of organic photoelectric function. The critical exponent δ = 7 in the theory of phase transition has been obtained analytically, and it is shown that it can satisfy all seven scaling equations; a new type of vibrational mode of soliton has been predicted by our collaborators, which has been confirmed by experiments later; the π - electron correlation theory with wide energy band has been developed, which clarifies the argument about the cause of the "conjugated structure" of polymer; it is proposed that polymer has "photoinduced polarization inversion" and spin carrier It has a series of unique photoelectric functions, such as "photo induced charge change sign".
personnel training
In 1960, Sun Xin began to take part in teaching work. He has taught general physics, electrodynamics, college physics and low dimensional condensed matter physics. Thermodynamics and statistical physics was awarded as a national excellent course. as of April 2018, Sun Xin has supervised more than 10 doctoral students and more than 20 master's students.
Honorary recognition
In December 2013, Sun Xin was elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Social service
In 2000, Sun Xin was elected as the 12th president of ICSM in Austria.
Personal life
There are seven brothers and sisters in Sun Xin's family. Sun Xin is the eldest in the family. Her younger sister, two years younger than Sun Xin, is a retired teacher in the middle school affiliated to Yangzhou University.
Character evaluation
Sun Xin specializes in the research of statistical physics and condensed matter theory, focusing on the combination of condensed matter physics and polymer chemistry to study the mechanism of organic optoelectronic function. He is one of the academic leaders in the theoretical research of Organic Optoelectronics in China. (review of Fudan University) Sun Xin's academic status in the fields of statistical physics, low dimensional condensed matter physics and organic photoelectron theory has been established by his many physics projects and more than 100 academic papers.
