Wanqing township is located in the north east of Zhashui County. It is named because there are Wandeng temple and qinggangcao in the territory, and the pine forest is densely distributed, which means "evergreen forever". It is adjacent to niucao township of Shangzhou city in the East, hongyansi township of Shangzhou District in the south, jiujianfang township of Shangzhou District in the West and DONGYUEMIAO township of Shangzhou city in the north. It covers an area of 50 square kilometers. 886 households, 3679 people. It has jurisdiction over 5 administrative villages and 34 natural villages including Panlong temple, Wandeng temple, Yanping, Fuqiang and qinggangcao. The CPC Wanqing Township Party committee and township government of Zhashui County are located in Lianghe, 105 km away from Zhashui County. The main highway from Zhashui to Shangzhou passes through the territory.
Wanqing township is dominated by agriculture and forestry, with 3810 mu of arable land and 60500 mu of forest. Most of the trees are pines. Crops include corn, potato, coarse cereals, Auricularia auricula and walnut. The timber output ranks first in the county.
There are supply and marketing cooperatives and health centers in Wanqing township. There are 1 Central Primary School and 7 primary schools. The township fluorite mine is located in qinggangcao.
Wanqing township was under the jurisdiction of Lantian County before 1956 and Zhashui County in April 1956.
There are copper deposits in leijiagou, Xigou and Caijiagou, and lead-zinc and fluorite deposits in qinggangcao.
