Swallow
Shi Yanzi (1920-1986) was originally named Mai Zhisheng. He was born in Shunde, Guangdong Province. He was famous as wenwusheng, chousheng and wusheng in Cantonese opera. In his early years, people in the opera called him "shiguizi" and later called him "Shishen". He played "Fang Shiyu" very well, so fans called him "Fansheng Fang Shiyu".

When Shi Yanzi was young, he entered the pear garden and became a famous artist. Therefore, his basic performance skills are solid, and he can sing and do well. Tang Disheng, the famous screenwriter of that year, made a new play "the first trial of Yan Xinsheng in Qin court" for Shi Yanzi, which opened up his way of play and enabled him to show his skills, thus making the play popular. Shi Yanzi is good at performing martial arts, and the martial arts on stage are very wonderful. His "fighting North School" with Chen Jintang and Lu qiguang can be called the "three wonders" on the stage of Cantonese opera, and he has been given the title of "new martial arts champion".

Shi Yanzi is also an art star of both drama and film. For a time, he devoted himself to the film industry, shooting many martial arts films such as Fang Shiyu. The newspapers commented that he was "very popular in the film industry, with many wonderful performances and thunderous applause". Some people call him the "King" of martial arts movies in Cantonese opera. In the 1970s, he made a special series of Cantonese opera for TVB, making Cantonese Opera more popular among the public. Shi Yanzi has a wide range of interests in life. He once learned to write Chinese painting under the guidance of Zhao shaoang, a great master of Lingnan Painting School. In his later years, he still liked to gallop. He was also enthusiastic about public welfare. In 1984, he held a charity performance of Cantonese Opera with Chen feinong at the Hong Kong City Hall. He died in Hong Kong in September 1986.

The marriage between Shi Yanzi and his wife Ren binger was not smooth, especially Ren Jianhui, Ren binger's cousin, who was the most opposed. However, in the end, they were able to get rid of public opinions and successfully married.
