In 1977, Gao Zhisen joined Li Yingsheng as a screenwriter. On April 23, 1978, the TV play crocodile tears was premiered; on November 6, the family ethics play chameleon was broadcast. In 1979, Gao Zhisen transferred to TVB as assistant director.
In 1981, he wrote his first screenplay "no turning around"; in the same year, he joined Xinyi City film industry. On March 24, 1982, the comedy "lemon Cola" was released, and Gao Zhisen was nominated for the best original script of the 19th Golden Horse Award for Taiwan film. On October 21, 1982, the horror comedy "little life is afraid" was released.

On June 30, the costume comedy "Water Margin" was released, starring Xu Guanying, Xu Guanjie and Mao Shunyun.
On March 31, 1994, director's love movie "every year has today" was released; on April 21, director's song and dance movie "I have a date with spring" was released, which lasted for 20 weeks, and finally won the box office of HK $20 million, and was nominated for the best Picture award of the 14th Hong Kong Film Awards.
In 1995, he co founded spring stage production Co., Ltd. with Du Guowei and Gu Tiannong, and Gao Zhisen was the chief executive officer and producer. On November 1 of the same year, the comedy film "stealing the wrong partition wall flower" was released.
On April 4, 1996, the comedy film "tiger door" was released. In 1997, he directed the feature film Nanhai shisan Lang, starring Xie Junhao, which won the nomination for best feature film at the 34th Taiwan Golden Horse Awards, while Gao Zhisen won the best editing award.
In 1998, he directed the ancient costume comedy "nine stars reporting good news", CO starring Zhang Guorong, Wu Qianlian and Zhong Zhentao. In 2000, he supervised and directed the comedy "the big winner", CO starred by Xu Guanying, Xu Guanjie and Lin Xinru.
On February 15, 2001, the producer of "love in itself" was released. On November 20, 2003, the comedy film "Hua Kui Du Shiniang" was released. In 2004, he directed the comedy film "foreign daughter-in-law, local man" co starred by Jiang Yi, Shen Dianxia and Zeng Zhiwei.

In 1995, Gao Zhisen divorced his wife. In 1997, Gao Zhisen fell in love with stage actor Jiao yuan.
