Xu bu (February 20, 1951 - July 3, 1985), born in Hsinchu, Taiwan, China, is a well-known comedian in Taiwan. He has the reputation of "Taiwan Chaplin". The famous singer Luo Dayou once said that Xu Bu is "the best comedian in Taiwan's history in my mind". As a comedian, he is extremely successful, but his life is just like his stage name "Xu bu".

Life figures

Childhood

On February 20, 1951, Xu Bu was born into a poor family in nuanwan District, Keelung City, Taiwan, China. The family was so poor that they often had to use boiled water instead of milk to feed Xu Bu in his infancy. Because of his inability to support Xu Bu, Xu Bu's parents gave him to Ye Qingjiang, the foreman and magician of ailaimeng restaurant in Hsinchu. Xu Bubu's adoptive mother, Xu Mingzhu, was originally a singer of "ailaimeng restaurant" and became Ye Qingjiang's magic assistant after marriage. Xu Bu's real name "ye Tiexiong" was taken by Ye Qingjiang. Ye Qingjiang founded the "overseas Chinese singing and dancing magic stunt Troupe" with 30 members, who performed with the unique skills of funny magic. The delegation once represented Taiwan to Japan for the International Magic conference. Under the guidance of the bad tempered Ye Qingjiang, Xu could not learn to swallow fire, juggle, oral skills, magic, play musical instruments, play jazz drums and other skills in his childhood. When Xu Bu was 6 years old, he was already Ye Qingjiang's assistant and was greatly influenced by Ye Qingjiang's performance style. Xu Bubu didn't have much childhood. After only one semester in Dongmen elementary school in Hsinchu City, he began to run away from home and school. Later, he studied magic, juggling, oral skills and other unique skills in the "Wang Zhongqiang stunt group". When Xu Bu was 12 years old, he began to learn how to perform on the stage. At first, he practiced playing card magic, and then he practiced swallowing table tennis (putting table tennis in his throat and spitting it out). His skill was so high that he could still drink water even when he had table tennis in his throat. Later, Xu Bu worked with his father and performed around Taiwan. Because Xu Bu's master's stage name was "big Bole" (also known as "Ye Bole"), Xu Bu's stage name at that time was also called "little Bole". Xu Mingzhu committed suicide in Puli before he turned 20, and ye Qingjiang remarried twice.

Acting career

When Xu Bu was 20 years old, he performed in a singing hall in Taoyuan County. He met Su Meiyan, a fan of his funny magic, and they got married. Su Meiyan became Xu Bu's magic assistant. The couple went to Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and other places to perform with Ye Qingjiang's stunt team. In 1973, Xu could not perform military service and was distributed to the "Gancheng art team" in Weiwu camp. Su Meiyan was employed as an employee of the Gancheng art team. In 1975, Xu could not retire from the army, and the couple continued to perform everywhere. At the beginning of 1977, he could not return to Japan from the Japanese performance, but he could not resist the fact that he was able to show his funny talent on the warship he was carrying. He was appreciated by Wang Xiaoxiang, manager of the China TV Department of the same ship. Wang Xiaoxiang wrote a letter of recommendation, telling Xu that if he can't, he can take it and go to find Wang Shigang, deputy manager of CCTV's program department, to arrange a performance. Xu Bu didn't take the initiative to go to Wang Shigang. In the same year, Feng Feifei, a well-known Taiwanese singer, performed at the sapphire grand concert hall in Kaohsiung. At that time, a member of Feng Feifei's exclusive dance group "four knights" was unable to go on the stage for some reason. Instead, Xu was unable to go on the stage. Wang Shigang, who went to visit the group, saw the performances of Xu Bu, Fang Zheng and Feng Feifei in the audience of the sapphire concert hall. In addition, Xu Bu's outstanding performance in the labor force performance of "the front line labor corps of all walks of life in Jinmen, Taiwan, China" in the same year, so he took the initiative to invite Xu Bu and Fang Zheng into CCTV, signed a basic performance personnel contract with CCTV, and became the basic performance personnel of CCTV. It may not be three months away from the date when founder entered CTV.

Sign a contract

After signing the contract with CCTV, Xu Bubu was initially involved in several TV plays of CCTV. After that, Xu Bu, founder, Xu Feng, Ni minran and Ling Feng co hosted the CCTV variety show "you love weekend" (broadcast period: May 7, 1977 to June 3, 1978) for Feng Feifei, and Xu Bu's magic unit "say magic with smile" was a major feature of the program. In the midday Minnan language series "Leifeng Pagoda" (broadcast period: April 18, 1977 to May 16, 1977) of CCTV, Xu Bubu, the bookboy who plays the leading role of Xu Xian, became famous by "Xu Bubu", so his stage name was changed to "Xu Bubu". On July 9, 1978, the CCTV variety show "a rainbow" (broadcast period: July 9, 1978 to May 4, 1980) hosted by Feng Feifei was launched. Xu Bubu and Fang Zheng served as the regular team and assistant host of the program, and the three often joined hands to make fun of the program. In his spare time, he may visit the private Christian Bethany kindergarten in Taipei, play magic with the children, and donate a NT $200000 check to the hospital. In 1979, Xu Bu organized his own labor corps and went to the front line of Kinmen to work. He paid NT $700000 at his own expense to pay for the air tickets and announcement fees of other artists in the group. In the same year, Xu Bu failed to make the announcement of "a rainbow" because he participated in the military education film "on the mountain of success" by the Chinese film studio, and was punished by CCTV for "stopping TV for one year". Xu Bu's outstanding performance in "on the mountain of success" made him a hit; since then, Xu Bu has performed as a leading role in films, and the invitation for films has always been continuous. In 1980, he took part in the film "the clown" directed by Zhu Yanping for the first time, which caused a sensation in the streets, causing a "whirlwind of Xu bu", and the film remuneration soared to NT $2.6 million; in the same year, Xu Bu and Fang Zheng co starred in the film "little fish eat big fish", and they became good friends. Because of his grassroots and early accumulation of comedy performance foundation, combined with the tragicomedy performance style, he made great achievements in performing arts. Later, the series of films Xu Bu Bu and Zhu Yanping cooperated with won the audience's approval, and even the films with guest performances were very popular, as if they were "box office guarantees". In addition to participating in various films, Xu Bu Bu often invited his father to perform magic and acrobatics in Taipei and other major song and dance halls until 1983. Sometimes he even invited his father to perform on the same stage, and was honored as "king of the ugly king". however, after the formation of "Xu Bu's whirlwind", Xu Bu became a "cash cow" in the eyes of the Underworld (in the show, Xu Bu could support the box office only by juggling and acrobatics, unlike Feng Feifei, who had to match dance groups and bands), which became the root of his miserable life in his later years. In the early days of Taiwan's performing arts circle, the tangle with the underworld, coupled with the human pressure accumulated after Xu Bu became famous, made Xu Bu be detained by guns and human debt, constantly running around, playing, day and night upside down, immune decline, many diseases followed. In order to keep up with the announcement, we can't drink alcohol or inject painkillers to quickly boost our spirits and relieve the pain. The former leads to alcoholic hepatitis, while the latter leads to hepatitis B and drug addiction. In addition, we may not be able to owe a large amount of gambling debt. Su Meiyan can't bear this kind of life, and she can't divorce Xu. In January 1984, when Xu Bu took part in the CCTV series "dragon subduing arhat", Wang Shigang took Xu Bu to the hospital for health examination, which confirmed that Xu Bu had suffered from liver cirrhosis due to excessive drinking. After that, Xu Bu was complicated with duodenal ulcer, pancreatitis, jaundice, polycythemia and other diseases.

old age

According to Zhu Yanping's description, Xu Bu's later life is like this: when Xu Bu was in the studio, he often amused everyone and was a very happy working partner; but when he returned home, he often drank alone to relieve his boredom until dawn, and when he was drunk, he burst into tears. His friends advised him to be hospitalized for complete treatment, but he often took the opportunity to escape from the hospital during hospitalization because he didn't like hospitalization. He thought that life in hospital was like prison. He didn't trust western medicine. He only believed in the traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions given to him by his friends before he became famous. After taking those prescriptions, his health improved a little, but he began to drink again. These conditions recurred, leading to the deterioration of his condition. when Xu Bu can't take part in the last film "clown and swan" that he and Zhu Yanping cooperated with, he got drunk, hugged Zhu Yanping and cried, saying that he won't live long, and begged Zhu Yanping to take care of his two-year-old daughter. Late at night on July 2, 1985, Xu Bubu was sent to the Taipei ward of Mackay Memorial Hospital. Finally, on July 3, 1985, three days before "the clown and the swan" was released, Xu Bubu died of heart failure caused by alcoholic hepatitis. He was only 34 years old. Its fate is just like the stage name of Minnan homophonic "endless suffering". Xu Bu participated in 64 films from 1979 to 1985, which some film historians call "Xu Bu era". Xu Bu's last film was "baby family" by Qunlong film company, which started shooting at "Zhongzheng Guozhai" in Taipei in June 1985. After he died of illness, Qunlong film company found a stand in to replace him and finished the production of baby family. On July 27, 1985, on the release day of baby family, Qunlong film company held a public memorial ceremony. After the public sacrifice, Xu Bu was buried in Sanzhi Township, Taipei County.
