Born in Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in 1956.

In 1982, Yan Shikui was assigned to Emei film studio after graduation. In 1984, he took part in the shooting of Bayi film "Bashan children" and played the leading actor. In 2000, Yan Shikui came back to the film world and took part in the shooting of the TV series "Long March". He acted as deputy director and guest star Xiong Shihui. His grandfather, Yan Chengkong, was the head of the Errenzhuan troupe in Tongliao City in the early days of liberation, and his father, Yan jingling, was also a very active literary backbone.
