Li Qinian
Li Qi, formerly known as Li Chuqing, was born in 1914. In order to get rid of her family's poverty, she went to Hong Kong grand view film company to apply for an actor when she was 20 years old, and she won the first prize in one fell swoop. From then on, she began her screen career. At that time, all the films were "Cantonese films", including one of "lifeline", which made Li Qinian a "patriotic movie star".
brief introduction
Li Qinian (1914-november 4, 1950), formerly known as Li Chuqing, native place: Guangdong Province, was an active Cantonese Opera Yandan and film actor from 1930s to 1950s.
Lifeline was produced by Daguan film company in 1935. It was edited and directed by Guan Wenqing, a veteran of the film industry, and co starred by Li Qinian and Wu Chufan. The film describes a young engineer, in order to resist Japan and save the country, regardless of personal safety, to participate in the construction of a "lifeline" conducive to the national economy and people's livelihood - Railway. This is the first patriotic film in the history of Hong Kong film.
Director Guan Wenqing is known as "patriotic director", and Li Qinian is also known as "patriotic movie star".
Since then, Li Qinian not only actively participated in shooting patriotic films, but also took part in various public welfare activities, becoming the highest paid "Hong Kong's first film queen" in the pre war Hong Kong film industry.
After the "August 13 incident", Shanghai became an "isolated island". Zhang Shankun, the film king, went to Hong Kong to invite Chen yunshang, another Cantonese film star, to join Xinhua film company. He made a sensation in the film world with "Mulan joins the army" and made the first hit with fame and fortune.
At that time, another Yihua film company on the "isolated island" was also eager to try this scene, so it invited Li Qinian, the "first film queen" of Hong Kong, to Shanghai for filming, preparing to "fight the challenge" with Chen yunshang.
In 1940, "the female emperor" and "Liang Hongyu", starring Li Qinian, were launched one after another. These are two ancient costume films that are borrowed from the past.
Next, Li Qinian shot four "fashion films" in Yihua, namely "romantic widow", "everlasting", "modern youth" and "thief beauty". Due to the "bad fortune", Li's "challenge arena battle" has not yet been won, while the fire of the Pacific War has been burning, and all the film companies in Shanghai have been reduced to "Zoomlion" and "China Film" hosted by the puppet Japanese.
Acting history
At the age of 11, he took part in the Cantonese Opera "the song of rejuvenation" for the first time; in July 1938, he starred in the Cantonese Opera "Diao Chan worships the moon", raising more than 4000 Hong Kong dollars for the wounded refugees of the Republic of China; he was hired by "Shaw Brothers Company" for three months with a monthly salary of 2000 Hong Kong dollars and 2 yuan, On August 7, 1938, he set out to perform Cantonese Opera in more than 60 theaters around Nanyang (now Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei): Liang Hongyu, Xi Shi, Hua Mulan, Wang Zhaojun, Diao Chan worships the moon, Zhuo Wenjun and Yan Zijian. The history of film performance
In 1932, in order to meet her idol, Miss Ruan Lingyu, she went to Shanghai to live alone for one year. Her daily work was watching Ruan Lingyu's films and Lianhua Company's films. When she returned to Hong Kong, she began to work in the film industry. At first, Li Chuqing used the stage name "Li Qilian". However, Mr. Li Zhiqing of the publicity department mistakenly wrote "Li Qilian", so Li Chuqing continued to use the name "Li Qilian". At the age of 20, she applied for the "grand view sound film company" in Hong Kong and began her screen career. In her first film song of yesterday (1935), she played the first leading role as the virtuous wife Yun Ying, Xin Liangjiu (Guan Dexing) as her unfaithful husband Bing Hong, and Huang Manli as her daughter Yue Xian. The patriotic film lifeline (1935), as the first heroine, plays the virtuous wife Mrs. Liao, so that Li Qinian won the "patriotic movie star" reputation. Li lives on the third floor of 28 Tam Kung Road, To Kwa Wan, Kowloon. The room is decorated with blue walls and curtains. The bookcase is filled with books. She is used to reading English books for two hours every day and answering fans' letters systematically. In the summer of 1939, a two-day "photo exhibition of the year of Li Qi" was held at Causeway Bay Lee stage on Hong Kong Island. The charity sale of the photos raised money for the Anti Japanese War of the Republic of China. In 1941, Li Qi went to Shanghai to shoot Mandarin films, starring in two ancient costume films "the female emperor" (1940) and "Liang Hongyu" (1940); four fashion films "romantic widow" (1941), "forever" (1941), "modern youth" (1941) and "thief beauty" (1942), and then she got married. In 1948, Li Qi made a comeback in Hong Kong, performing such films as the fragrance of flowers against the horse's hooves (1948). Unfortunately, it has lost its glory. Li Qinian's film sequel is "selling meat to save my aunt" (1949), playing the virtuous wife Yu Ruobing. In her life, Li has been involved in more than 40 films, all of which are black-and-white Cantonese and Mandarin sound films from Hong Kong and Shanghai.
On November 12, 1950, the overseas Chinese daily in Hong Kong published a short message: "Li Qinian, Hong Kong's first film queen, died on November 4 after taking sleeping pills in Vietnam."
