Biology and pharmacy of natural products: biocatalysis based on active natural products and its application in drug research and development is to apply molecular biology technology and microbial fermentation technology to the research of "biosynthesis and biotransformation of active secondary metabolites".
1. Biocatalysis mainly involves various chemical reactions, such as hydroxylation, epoxidation, dehydrogenation, hydrogenation, hydrolysis, lipidization, dehydration, and so on. Some metabolites have very complex chemical reactions in the reaction process. We can find new derivatives with medicinal value through these reactions, and we can also find enzymes in microorganisms that make these reactions occur for industrial production. For example, camptothecin and hydroxycamptothecin are anticancer compounds in Camptotheca acuminata fruit. 10 hydroxycamptothecin has good curative effect and low toxicity, but its content is very low. Its resource problem can be successfully solved by biotransformation and biosynthesis.
2. Research on the development of natural drugs: natural drugs have long been a powerful weapon for the prevention and treatment of diseases. So far, many countries and regions in the world still use natural drugs as an important means of disease prevention and treatment. In addition to the research on the biosynthesis and biotransformation of natural drugs, our laboratory has made remarkable achievements in the development of natural drugs by taking advantage of our advantages in separation, purification and qualitative and quantitative analysis.
Scientific research conditions
It has the advanced hardware experimental conditions to carry out natural product chemistry, analytical chemistry, bioinformatics, microbiology and molecular biology, interdisciplinary research, such as five sets of HPLC (analytical and semi preparative), circular dichroism, and equipped with a variety of detectors, such as ultraviolet, evaporative light, fluorescence. There are two sets of desktop and floor type high-speed low-temperature centrifuges, one is gel imaging system, the other is cryogenic refrigerator, freeze-drying machine, and PCR, fermentor, electrophoresis apparatus and conventional chromatography separation system. In addition, it has laid a solid foundation for the collection, cultivation and utilization of microbial strains, natural enzymes and recombinant enzymes, as well as the accumulation of natural product samples and their separation, purification and analysis technologies, and is forming obvious competitiveness and influence in related fields.
Research achievements
Over the years, he has successively presided over one new drug fund project of the Ministry of science and technology of the people's Republic of China, one fund of the State Administration of traditional Chinese medicine, one fund for outstanding young teachers of the Ministry of education, one major provincial new drug project and two science and technology funds, undertaken a number of enterprise R & D projects, and applied for a number of national patents.
