Li Cai was born in July 1944, male, Han nationality, from Huaide County, Jilin Province. Professor, doctoral supervisor. He has successively served as director of experimental pathology and toxicology teaching and research section of School of pharmacy of Jilin University, member of Expert Advisory Committee of Ministry of health, member of Academic Degree Committee of Jilin Province, vice chairman of Jilin Preventive Medicine Association, special reviewer of Chinese Journal of Pathology, editorial board member of Journal of Bethune Medical University, and special doctoral supervisor of China University of traditional Chinese medicine. Since 1993, he has enjoyed special government allowance.
Character experience
He graduated from the medical department of Jilin Medical University in 1969, studied for a master's degree in pathology in Bethune Medical University in 1978, and obtained a master's degree in medicine in 1981. From 1988 to 1997, he went to the United States, Canada and Sweden for further study and research. In 1989 and 1993, he was promoted to associate professor and Professor respectively.
Research direction
Main research interests: molecular pathology and pharmacology of diabetic complications; molecular pathology and pharmacology of kidney disease; pharmacology of pharmacodynamics and drug safety evaluation.
Main contributions
He has successively presided over more than 10 projects including National Natural Science Foundation of China, Ministry of health, major projects of science and technology development plan of Jilin Province, projects of science and technology development plan of Jilin Province and scientific research projects of Department of health of Jilin Province. He has won 7 science and technology progress awards of the State Education Commission and Jilin Province, and has published more than 120 academic papers in domestic and foreign journals. He edited the textbook "disease model and Experimental Pathology", "experimental guidance of disease model and Experimental Pathology", edited the monograph "organ fibrosis: basic and clinical", and participated in the textbook "pathology" and "molecular pathology". 10 postgraduates, 15 doctoral students and 15 postdoctoral researchers have been trained.
Award winning record
He has been engaged in the research on the mechanism of ischemic and hypoxic myocardial necrosis, and successively studied the influence of various elements and hormones on the occurrence and development of myocardial necrosis. His research achievements won the third prize of science and technology progress award of the State Education Commission in 1996. After returning to the United States for further study, he focused on the molecular mechanism and prevention methods of diabetic chronic complications and kidney disease from the aspects of molecular pathology, interstitial pathology and Chinese herbal medicine. The first in-depth study of the pathogenesis of diabetic cardiomyopathy in China, research results won the third prize of Jilin Province Science and technology progress in 1996. The research on the kidney damage effect of advanced glycation end products and the prevention and treatment effect of rhubarb and other traditional Chinese medicine won the second prize of Jilin Province Science and Technology Progress Award in 2003.
