Lin Xiu
Lin Xiu (1878-1952), also known as Fengchun, was born in Longhu City, Chaoan County.
Life of the characters
When he was young, he was poor and worked as a child laborer in a shop. Later, he studied in Humen Army School and Baoding Army school with the help of the shopkeeper. After graduation, he served as the commander of the new army of the Qing Dynasty. Later, he served in Huanggang martial arts academy and joined the alliance. Since the Wuchang Uprising, Lin Xiu, who was then the leader of the machine gun team of the Qing army, plotted an uprising, but failed. So he angrily hurt himself to encourage the revolutionary morale. After his recovery, he was still committed to the cause of revolution.
After the founding of the Republic of China, Lin Xiu took part in the revolutionary movement led by Sun Yat Sen many times, participated in the "second revolution" and "Law Protection Movement", and made outstanding contributions. In 1916, he was awarded the gold medal of Wuhan uprising by President Li Yuanhong. In 1919, he served as senior adviser and infantry commander of Fujian Zhejiang general command. Later, he served as a counsellor in the Chaomei Garrison and general headquarters of Fujian Jingguo army.
Personal achievement
Lin Xiu took the post of director of Hanjiang River Management Department and head of Chaoan County, actively renovated Hanjiang River. He organized the dredging of the Meixi reach of the Hanjiang River to speed up the flow of the Hanjiang River and speed up the river's going out to sea, and advocated the construction of embankment roads, which not only strengthened the South Embankment, but also improved the traffic conditions. In addition, the Chaozhou phoenix platform was rebuilt to add to the success of one side. Lin Xiu also actively devoted himself to the construction of his hometown Longhu, organizing the construction of South and North Gate villages and paving streets. In order to cultivate talents, Longhu Academy was renovated, Longhu middle school was established, and Xingyuan Shantang was built to collect and bury the dead. In 1949, the Kuomintang army was defeated and went south, harassing the people everywhere. Because of Lin Xiu's prevention, the people in his hometown were finally saved from disaster.
