Wang Xuemin
Wang Xuemin, born in 1958, received a bachelor's degree in agriculture from Huazhong Agricultural University in 1982 and a doctor's degree in plant physiology and biochemistry from the University of Kentucky in 1987. He is now a professor of Huazhong Agricultural University, a chair professor of Biology Department of University of Missouri (St. Louis) and a researcher of Danforth Plant Science Center.
Personal experience
After graduating from Huazhong Agricultural University in 1982, Professor Wang Xuemin went to Ohio State University. At the age of 29, he obtained a doctorate in plant physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Kentucky. At the age of 32, he was awarded assistant professor of biochemistry by Kansas State University. After only eight years, he was awarded Professor again. At the age of 42, he was employed by the University of Missouri He is a distinguished professor.
Main achievements
He has isolated and cloned the phospholipase D gene for the first time in the world, systematically revealed the function and mechanism of phospholipase family proteins in plant stress resistance, hormone response, cell senescence and other important physiological processes, and expanded the field of plant lipid signaling. In recent five years, he has presided over 15 projects of NSF, USDA and Bioenergy Research Institute, with a total funding of 65 It's $0.5 million.
As the first author or corresponding author in science, nature bio technology Proc.Natl.Acad . Sci.USA , plantcell, "annual review of plant physics" and other international well-known journals have published more than 100 papers (or specially invited reviews), and have been invited to give reports on more than 70 well-known international academic conferences in this field, serving as J Biol.Chem . editorial board, NSF, USA National Institutes of Health (NIH) and U.S. Department of agriculture (USDA) program reviewers.
