She is not only a leading figure in quyi and Quju, but also proficient in Peking Opera, Pingju and song. Artistic experience
In her early years, her father Wei Yongfu and her elder brother and sister-in-law lived on rap music Pavilion drum and Tangshan drum. In 1930, her father took her and her cousin Xianshi to Tianjin to perform in a small library in Nanshi. Because of his father's illness, he began to rap for his father at the age of 8. When his father's illness gradually improved, the father and daughter took turns in performing. She has been working in Jinmen for more than ten years, and she also has a solid foundation in rap. Later, he was instructed by Wang Peichen, a famous drum player in Tianjin leting, and his skills were improved.
At the age of 12, he went to Beijing with his father and brother to sing. Xikui and Cao Baolu, the president of the quyi Association, practiced the octagonal drum and learned how to sing the single string. They soon learned a few verses. They also learned Cao's "five saints pilgrimage". Xikui also went to Kaiming theater to listen to Pingxi in private, and met Xiaobai Yushuang's mother and daughter. Under the introduction of Xiaobai Yushuang, he met Wu suqiu, a Peking Opera actor. From then on, they became three sisters of jingpingqu. Soon after, Cao Baolu organized a concert for Liu Baoquan, the king of drum industry. Wei Xikui was honored to meet Liu Baoquan, and won his guidance and made more progress. At this time, someone from Tianjin asked her father and daughter to sing at Qingyun theater in Nanshi. The more flower baskets there are, the more popular the "corner" is. His father and daughter borrow money to buy flower baskets. Xikui used the drum aria of "whip Luhua" to make firecrackers. When Xikui appeared, the first sentence was well sung. It's a hit. It's a hit in Tianjin. Later, she met Jin Wanchang, a famous plum blossom drum singer, and she learned to sing plum blossom drum. After that, she sang in Qunying opera garden and xiaoliyuan quyi hall. She sang on the same stage with Xiao Caiwu, a famous Jingyun drum singer. Xiao Caiwu agreed and encouraged her idea of improving Tangshan drum. Xikui sang with Bai Yunpeng, a famous Jingyun drum player, in the quyi Hall of Daguanyuan, which was deeply inspired by Bai school. She sang in Tianjin until she returned to Peking in 1945. Xikui gradually integrated various schools of singing into Tangshan Dagu. After several years of training, he changed from Tangshan Dagu to Fengtian Dagu, and finally created Wei Dagu "fengdiao".
After 1950, she and Cao Baolu and other artists created a new type of drama with the single string brand music as the keynote under the suggestion of Ma Shaobo and Lao She. In early 1952, they chose Lao She's script "Liu Shujing" and asked Lao She to discuss it. With Lao She's support, Wei Xikui actively engaged in rehearsal. Lao She excitedly proposed that "the new type of drama evolved from the single string brand music to form Beijing local opera, which can be divided into three parts It's called Quju, so it's named after it. "Liushujing" was a grand performance. Mr. Lao She and his wife watched, and the leaders of the cultural management department came to see the play. The audience's response was strong, and it was a sensation. It was full of performances and had a great influence. New plays became a new flower in the field of drama. In early 1957, Yang Naiwu and Chinese cabbage was performed and made into a color film. In February 1984, he created an opera recital, in which one person sang plum blossom, Jingyun, Yueting and fengdiao drums, single string and Quju excerpts, making it the first time for opera actors to hold a recital.
Art exchange
In July 1987, he led the Chinese Quyi troupe to perform in the United States. In March 1992, he was invited to Taiwan to hold a "cross-strait drum music Exhibition" and give lectures in several universities. He became the first person in the field of drama to formally go to Taiwan for artistic exchanges after 40 years of isolation between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait. In March 1995, Wei Xikui Art Development Promotion Association was established.

More than 5000 members of the third Chinese people's delegation to the DPRK left Beijing for the DPRK.
